The Chapter That Stayed Longer Than Expected
Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional
Date: Thursday, 25 June 2026
Topic: The Chapter God Didn’t Skip (5)
Focus: The Chapter That Stayed Longer Than Expected
🔥Theme:
Why certain painful seasons were necessary.
📖 Key Verse:
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” — Romans 8:28
Devotional:
Some chapters do not end when we think they should. The waiting lasts longer. The prayer remains unanswered. The healing takes more time. The door stays closed. The wilderness continues. And we begin to ask: “Lord, why is this chapter still here?” Most of us do not struggle with God’s promises as much as we struggle with God’s timing. Joseph probably thought the prison chapter would be short. David likely expected the throne to come soon after the anointing. Israel surely thought the wilderness would end quickly. Yet some chapters remain longer because God is doing more than changing circumstances—He is changing us.
📖 Scripture Reading:
- Ecclesiastes 3:11 — He makes everything beautiful in His time.
- Psalm 27:14 — Wait for the Lord.
- James 1:2–4 — Let perseverance finish its work.
💧 Refreshing for the Day:
We often pray: “Lord, get me out of this.” God sometimes answers: “First, let Me finish My work in you.” The chapter that stayed longer than expected may have developed: deeper faith, stronger character, greater humility, richer compassion, fuller dependence upon God. The extra pages were not empty pages. They were forming pages. There are things God can only teach us through time. And sometimes the season we wanted shortened becomes the season that prepares us most deeply for what is ahead. The delay is not proof that God forgot. It may simply mean that the Author is still writing. Stay Refreshed!
✨ Note This:
📖 God never extends a chapter without purpose.
🛡️ Responsibility:
Instead of asking only, “When will this end?” ask God, “What are You forming in me during this season?”
🙏 Prayer:
Father, help me trust You in the chapters that seem to last longer than I expected. Teach me patience, strengthen my faith, and finish the work You have begun in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
🔥 Prophetic Declaration:
My waiting is not wasted. God is working through every season, and He will complete His purpose in my life at the appointed time. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
