The Chapter That Prepared the Next One

Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional

Date: Friday, 26 June 2026

Topic: The Chapter God Didn’t Skip (6)

Focus: The Chapter That Prepared the Next One

🔥Theme:

Why certain painful seasons were necessary.

📖 Key Verse:
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” — Romans 8:28

Devotional:

One of the greatest mistakes we make is judging a chapter before reading the next one. We often ask, “Lord, why did I have to go through that?” Not realizing that the answer is waiting in the chapter that follows. God is a Master Author. He never writes isolated chapters. Every chapter prepares the next. Joseph’s prison prepared him for the palace. David’s pasture prepared him for the throne. Ruth’s field prepared her for the family line of Christ. Esther’s hidden years prepared her for the palace. Peter’s failure prepared him to strengthen others. None of those seasons made complete sense while they were happening. Only later did they realize: “I needed that chapter to become who God was calling me to be.”

📖 Scripture Reading:

  • James 1:2–4 — Let perseverance finish its work.
  • Romans 5:3–5 — Suffering produces perseverance, character, and hope.
  • 2 Corinthians 4:17 — Our light and momentary troubles are achieving an eternal glory.

💧 Refreshing for the Day:

There are people you will one day encourage because you once walked through heartbreak. There are prayers you will one day pray with confidence because you once waited in silence. There are battles you will one day help others overcome because you first fought them in private. God is not merely preparing blessings for you. He is preparing you for the blessings. The next chapter often requires a version of you that does not yet exist. That is why the previous chapter had to happen. It was not punishment. It was preparation. The chapter you wanted to end was quietly building the person your future requires. Do not resent the process that produced the person you are becoming. The Author always knows why one chapter must come before another. Stay Refreshed!

Note This:

📖 God is not just writing your story—He is writing you into the person your next chapter requires.

🛡️ Responsibility:

Instead of asking, “Why did this happen?” begin asking, “Who is God shaping me to become through this?”

🙏 Prayer:

Father, thank You for every chapter You have written in my life. Even the painful ones have carried purpose. Help me trust that every season is preparing me for what You have already prepared ahead. Form my character, deepen my faith, and make me ready for every assignment You have ordained. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

🔥 Prophetic Declaration:

Every chapter of my life is working together under God’s sovereign hand. I am being prepared, strengthened, and positioned for His divine purpose. Nothing I have experienced is wasted, and my next chapter will reveal the wisdom of the One who has been writing my story all along. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
