When Love Becomes the Evidence

Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional

Date: Thursday, 3 September 2026

Topic: The Life Jesus Is Forming in Me (Day 5)

Focus: When Love Becomes the Evidence

🔥Theme:

The clearest evidence of a life being formed by Jesus is love. As Christ changes us, His love should increasingly shape how we treat others.

📖 Key Verse:
“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” — Philippians 2:13 (KJV)

Devotional:

We can know Scripture, speak about faith, serve faithfully, and even exercise spiritual gifts. But Jesus gave His disciples a simple evidence by which people would recognize them: Love. “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” This kind of love goes beyond being kind to people who are kind to us. Jesus teaches us to love when it costs something—to forgive when we have been hurt, to remain compassionate when we are disappointed, and to show grace even when we have every reason to withdraw it. That is where Christ begins to become visible in us.

📖 Scripture Reading:

  • John 13:34–35 — Jesus says love for one another will identify His disciples.
  • 1 Corinthians 13:1–3 — Spiritual activity without love loses its true value.
  • 1 John 4:11–12 — God’s love becomes visible through the way we love one another.

💧 Refreshing for the Day:

Spiritual maturity is not measured only by how much Scripture we know, how long we pray, or how gifted we are. It is also revealed in how we treat people. Sometimes we want God to increase our anointing while He is trying to increase our capacity to love. We ask for greater influence, while He asks us to forgive someone. We desire to be used mightily, while He teaches us patience with difficult people.

Because becoming like Jesus means learning to love like Jesus. This does not mean tolerating abuse or refusing healthy boundaries. Love can be truthful, wise, and firm. But even when boundaries are necessary, bitterness does not have to own our hearts. The world does not only need to hear that we belong to Jesus. It should encounter something of Jesus in the way we love. Stay Refreshed!

Note This:

🌿 People should not only hear about Jesus from us; they should experience something of His love through us.

🛡️ Responsibility:

Think of someone who is difficult for you to love right now. Ask Jesus to guard your heart from bitterness and show you how to respond with His wisdom and grace. Let love become more than something you preach—let it become something you practice.

🙏 Prayer:

Heavenly Father, fill my heart with the love of Christ. Heal every place where hurt has produced bitterness, and teach me to forgive, show grace, and treat others as Jesus would. Let my words, attitudes, and actions reveal Your love to the people around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

🌿 Prophetic Declaration:

The love of Christ is being formed in me. Bitterness, resentment, hatred, and unforgiveness will not rule my heart. I will walk in grace, wisdom, compassion, and truth. My life will not only speak about Jesus; it will increasingly demonstrate His love. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
