Devotional:
There is a part of us that naturally wants to be seen, appreciated, understood, and recognized. We want our contributions acknowledged. We want people to know when we are right. Sometimes we even want others to notice how much we have sacrificed. But Jesus forms something different in us. He teaches us the grace to become smaller. John the Baptist had influence. Crowds followed him, people respected him, and his ministry was flourishing. Yet when attention began shifting toward Jesus, John said something remarkable: “He must increase, but I must decrease.” That is spiritual maturity.
Following Jesus gradually frees us from the exhausting need to be important in everyone’s eyes. We learn that we do not always need the credit. We do not have to win every argument. We do not need to announce everything we have done. We can serve faithfully even when nobody applauds.

Refreshing for the Day:
Humility does not mean thinking that we have no value. It means knowing our value while refusing to make ourselves the center. Sometimes Jesus will allow situations that expose our pride—not to shame us, but to free us from it. He is forming a life that can celebrate others, accept correction, serve quietly, forgive without demanding recognition, and obey without needing an audience. The goal is not that we disappear. The goal is that Jesus becomes more visible through us. And perhaps one of the clearest signs that Christ is being formed in us is when we become less concerned about people seeing us and more concerned about people seeing Him. Stay Refreshed!

Spiritual maturity is becoming less concerned with receiving the credit and more concerned with Christ receiving the glory.

Responsibility:
Notice where pride appears in your life today. Resist the need to prove yourself, receive recognition, or have the last word. Choose one opportunity to serve, encourage, or give quietly without seeking acknowledgment.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, remove every form of pride that keeps Jesus from being clearly seen in me. Free me from the need for recognition, applause, and approval. Give me the humility of Christ and teach me to serve faithfully whether anyone notices or not. May Jesus increase in my life as I willingly decrease. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Prophetic Declaration:
The humility of Christ is being formed in me. Pride, self-importance, and the need for recognition will not rule my heart. I will serve with humility, celebrate others freely, and live for God’s glory. Jesus will increase in me, and His character will become increasingly visible through my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
