RETURN TO YOUR FIRST LOVE

When we surrender the Lordship over our Lives to Jesus, we are filled with Zeal. The love of Christ consumes us and supplies us with supernatural strength to tarry in the presence of God for very long periods of time. 

Sometimes, after a  while has passed, we find ourselves unintentionally growing weary. It begins to feel as though that fire and Zeal we had in the beginning starts to dwindle. Activities in Church, family responsibilities and multiple distractions in our every day life begin to divide our attention and shift our focus from our one true Love, Jesus Christ.

 If this is left unchecked, we eventually grow cold. Our secret place begins to look dry and patched. Beloved, my question to you today is, Have you forgotten your first love?

SCRIPTURE:

Remember  therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent. (Revelation 2:5)

REFRESHING FOR THE DAY:

When you feel like Joy has become so far away from you despite having your needs met, then God is calling you to return to your first love.

From the scripture above, God is calling every one of his Children that have fallen to do three things;

 

First, Remember. Remember where you used to be, how the fire used to burn bright In you. How your heart used to beat for God and how you were so committed to the things of God. Remember how your secret place was more important to you than ministry or religious activity. 

Second, Repent. Repent from your prayerlessness. Repent from taking your secret place for granted. Repent from loving other things more than you love God. Repent from prioritizing worldly things or even religious activities over your relationship with Christ. 

Finally, Do the works you did at first. Read the bible. Pray. Make spending Time with God your number one priority. Intentionally schedule time to seek his face daily. 

Scripture lets us know that if we don’t do these things, he will come and remove our lamp stand from its place. Stay lifted. 

NOTE THIS:

When you feel like Joy has become so far away from you despite having your needs met, then God is calling you to return to your first love.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Make God your priority again. 

Seek him with all your heart, soul and spirit. 

PRAYER:

O LORD, give me the grace to love you again like I used to, in Jesus name, Amen! (Go ahead and continue to pray)

PROPHETIC WORD:

Receive grace to return to your first love now, in the name of Jesus, Amen.
