When God Feels Distant (1)
Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional
Date: Sunday, 22 February 2026
Topic: When God Feels Distant (1)
Focus: When You Don’t Feel What You Used to Feel
🔥Theme:
There are seasons when God feels near—and seasons when He feels far. Prayers feel dry. Worship feels heavy. Scripture feels quiet. Nothing dramatic happened, yet something feels distant. This series is for those quiet, confusing seasons when you love God—but don’t feel Him the way you once did. We will explore how to remain faithful when emotions fade, how to trust God beyond spiritual highs, and how to recognize that distance in feeling does not mean distance in reality. Sometimes God is closest when He feels the furthest.
📖 Key Verse:
“Why, my soul, are you downcast? … Put your hope in God.” — Psalm 42:5
Devotional:
There are moments when faith feels vibrant and alive. Then there are seasons when it feels routine, dry, or quiet. Many believers quietly struggle with this and wonder, “What’s wrong with me?” But spiritual dryness does not always mean spiritual failure.
Feelings fluctuate. God does not. Psalm 42 shows a believer honestly wrestling with a downcast soul—yet still choosing hope. Maturity in faith means learning to trust God even when emotions are not strong.
📖 Scripture Reading:
- Psalm 42:1–5 — Speaking to your soul
- 2 Corinthians 5:7 — Walking by faith, not feeling
- Hebrews 11:6 — Faith pleases God
💧 Refreshing for the Day:
Love that continues without excitement is deeper than love that depends on emotion. So, beloved, you are not backsliding because you feel dry. You are growing when you choose faith anyway. Stay Refreshed!
✨ Note This:
🌫️ God is not absent just because your emotions are quiet.
🛡️ Responsibility:
Continue your spiritual habits even if they feel ordinary. Faithfulness in dryness builds depth.
🙏 Prayer:
Father, when I don’t feel what I used to feel, help me remain faithful. Strengthen my trust beyond emotions and anchor my heart in Your unchanging presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
🔥 Prophetic Declaration:
My faith is not built on feelings. God is near even in dry seasons, and I remain steady in Him. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
