He Was Working While I Was Waiting
Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional
Date: Monday, 10 August 2026
Topic: Looking Back, I See Jesus Everywhere (Day 2)
Focus: He Was Working While I Was Waiting
🔥Theme:
Discovering the fingerprints of Christ in every season of life—even in the moments we did not recognize Him.
📖 Key Verse:
“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” — Matthew 28:20 (NIV)
Devotional:
There was a season in my life when I thought God had become silent.
I prayed, but nothing seemed to change. I waited for answers, but the doors remained closed. Day after day, I wondered why God was taking so long. It felt as though heaven had paused while my life stood still. Looking back now, I see that my waiting was never empty.
While I was looking for visible progress, Jesus was doing an invisible work. He was shaping my character, strengthening my faith, and teaching me to trust Him more deeply than I ever had before. What felt like inactivity was actually preparation.
Joseph waited in prison before he stood in the palace. David spent years in the wilderness before he wore the crown. Even Jesus lived quietly for many years before beginning His public ministry. None of those years were wasted. God was preparing them for what lay ahead.
📖 Scripture Reading:
- Isaiah 40:31 — “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength…”
- Romans 8:28 — “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him…”
- Ecclesiastes 3:11 — “He has made everything beautiful in its time.”
💧 Refreshing for the Day:
The same has been true in my own journey. There were blessings I wanted before I was ready to carry them. There were opportunities I thought I had missed, only to discover later that God had preserved something better. There were delays I once questioned but now thank Him for, because His timing protected me from rushing into what my character had not yet grown to sustain.
Jesus taught me that waiting is never about making us stand still. It is about helping us grow while we stand still. The work He does within us during the waiting often becomes more valuable than the thing we are waiting to receive. Now, when I look back, I do not remember a season where God was absent. I remember a season where He was quietly at work. What walking with Jesus has taught me is this: God’s silence does not mean He is inactive. His unseen work is often His deepest work. While you are waiting on God, God is working in you. Stay Refreshed!
✨ Note This:
🌿 Waiting is not evidence that God has forgotten you. It is often evidence that He is preparing you for what He has already prepared for you.
🛡️ Responsibility:
Think about one area of your life where you are still waiting on God. Instead of asking, “Why hasn’t this happened?” ask, “Lord, what are You producing in me during this season?” Trust Him enough to believe that His work is already in progress.
🙏 Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding me that You are always at work, even when I cannot see it. Forgive me for the times I have mistaken waiting for abandonment. Help me to trust Your timing, embrace Your process, and believe that You are preparing me for every good thing You have planned. Strengthen my faith while I wait, deepen my dependence on You, and let my heart rest in the assurance that You never stop working. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
🌿 Prophetic Declaration:
I declare that my waiting season is filled with God’s purpose. The Lord is preparing me, strengthening me, and ordering every step according to His perfect plan. I will not grow weary or lose heart, because my God is working behind the scenes on my behalf. At the appointed time, His purpose will be revealed, and I will testify that every moment of waiting was worth it. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
