He Was Carrying Me When I Thought I Was Walking Alone

Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional

Date: Tuesday, 11 August 2026

Topic: Looking Back, I See Jesus Everywhere (Day 3)

Focus: He Was Carrying Me When I Thought I Was Walking Alone

🔥Theme:

Discovering the fingerprints of Christ in every season of life—even in the moments we did not recognize Him.

📖 Key Verse:
“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:20 (NIV)

Devotional:

There were seasons when I wondered how I kept going. Life was heavy. The answers were few. Some days I simply did what needed to be done and kept moving, even when my heart was tired. At the time, I thought I was surviving because I had somehow found the strength to continue. Looking back, I know better. It was Jesus carrying me.

There were moments when my prayers were barely more than whispers, yet somehow strength came for another day. There were nights filled with questions, yet morning still brought enough grace to rise again. There were burdens I thought would crush me, but somehow they did not. I now understand that the strength I felt was not always mine. Grace was holding me when I did not even realize I needed to be held.

📖 Scripture Reading:

  • Isaiah 46:3–4“I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”
  • Deuteronomy 1:31 — The Lord carried Israel as a father carries his son.
  • Psalm 55:22“Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you.”

💧 Refreshing for the Day:

God told Israel, “I have carried you since you were born.” That picture has become precious to me. Our Father does not only walk beside us; sometimes He carries us. When our faith is weak, His faithfulness remains strong. When our hands are tired, His hands do not loosen their grip. Perhaps that is why some of our hardest seasons only make sense when viewed from the other side. While we were going through them, all we could see was the pain. But looking back, we begin to notice the unexpected strength, the timely encouragement, the provision that arrived just when it was needed, and the peace that somehow survived the storm. Those were not accidents. Jesus was there. I used to look back and wonder, “How did I survive that?” Now I look back and say, “Jesus carried me through it.” And if He carried me then, I can trust Him with whatever comes next. Some seasons were not survived because you were strong. You survived because God was faithful. Stay Refreshed!

Note This:

🌿 Sometimes the clearest evidence that Jesus was with you is simply that what should have broken you did not have the final word.

🛡️ Responsibility:

Think about one difficult season you survived. Instead of focusing only on what happened, remember how God sustained you through it. Thank Him specifically for the strength, people, provision, protection, or grace He gave you along the way.

🙏 Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for carrying me through seasons when I did not have the strength to carry myself. Thank You for sustaining me when I was weary and giving me grace for every difficult day. Forgive me for the times I failed to recognize Your hand upon my life. Help me to remember Your past faithfulness whenever I face new challenges. I place every burden in Your hands and trust You to carry me again. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

🌿 Prophetic Declaration:

The Lord is my strength and my sustainer. I will not be overwhelmed by what lies ahead because the God who carried me before will carry me again. His grace is sufficient, His hands are strong, and His presence will never leave me. I will walk forward with confidence, knowing that through every valley, every storm, and every uncertain season, Jesus is with me. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
