DISTRACTION: THE MOTHER OF FAILURE

TIMES OF REFRESHING

ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL by Obiorah Prince Emeka

DATE: THURSDAY 27 AUGUST 2020

We live in a generation where there are many resistances and battles against the fulfilment of human destinies. The utmost attack on anyone’s destiny is distraction.

There are so many things that could distract you. Whatever could keep you away from doing what God wants you to do is a distraction. Distraction is a vice devised by the enemy to keep you from fulfilling the call of God upon your life; and its tail-end is failure.

SCRIPTURE:

And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things; But one thing is needful… (Luke 10:41-42) KJV

REFRESHING FOR THE DAY:

Anyone who could not resist distraction, cannot resist to fail.

From the scriptures above, Martha was busy entertaining guests, but failed to get the word from our Lord Jesus. Though, what she was doing is good, but Christ told her, “one thing is needful”—and that’s eternal life. Anything that gets our attention off eternal life, should be avoided. Not that they are not important, but they take a back seat to the things of God.

THINGS THAT COULD DISTRACT YOU

1.    Friends and colleagues

2.    Fashion and trendy life style

3.    Phone, T.V and social media

4.    The love of Money

5.    Sin

HOW CAN YOU AVERT DISTRACTION?

1.    Resist the enemy and his distractions. (James 4:7)

2.    Focus on doing things that have eternal value (1 Corinthians 3:12-15)

3.    Take enough daily capsules of the word of God for directions. (Psm 119:105)

4.    Seek to make good use of your time (Eph. 5:16)

5.    Make yourself available to God to change and use you. (Romans 12:1)

Beloved, sincerely answer this questions; What did you come here to do? Are you doing it? What is keeping you from doing it?

NOTE THIS:

Anyone who could not resist distraction, cannot resist to fail.

RESPONSIBILITY:

1.   Stay away from things are keeping you from being focused on God and his plans.

2.   Resolve to pursue your purpose.

 PRAYER:

O God, give me the grace to resist distraction, Amen! (Go ahead and continue to pray)

PROPHETIC WORD:

Receive the grace to resist every form of distraction NOW! in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
