DISTRACTION: THE MOTHER OF FAILURE (2)

TIMES OF REFRESHING

ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL by Obiorah Prince Emeka

DATE: FRIDAY 28 AUGUST 2020

Yesterday, it was established that distraction is a vice devised by the enemy to keep one from fulfilling the call and purpose of God upon his life. We also looked at things that could distract you and how to avert them.

The most dangerous thing about distraction is that one may be distracted without knowing it. So today, we shall look at how to overcome distraction in our lives through the account of Nehemiah.

SCRIPTURE:

…“What does this bunch of poor, feeble Jews think they’re doing? Do they think they can build the wall in a single day by just offering a few sacrifices? Do they actually think they can make something of stones from a rubbish heap—and charred ones at that?” (Nehemiah 4:2) NLT

REFRESHING FOR THE DAY:

Live in God’s direction and not in devil’s distraction

People under God’s direction can accomplish impossible tasks. Anytime you leave what God has called you to do, there’s always a step down and crisis.

Nehemiah had a burdened-vision to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. He prayed and began to work. Nehemiah was ridiculed, mocked, discouraged, he received bodily harm and death threats. Despite all these tools employed by the oppositions to distract his purpose, he didn’t give in to them.

HOW TO OVERCOME DISTRACTION

1.    Discover your real purpose of existence in life. (Prov. 19:21)

2.    Pray seriously towards it, by asking God for directions. (Neh. 1: 4-11)

3.    Pursue your purpose and vision diligently. (Neh. 4:6)

4.    Set achievable and realistic goals towards your purpose.

5.    Break down your goals. Take them one by one, and do not swerve unto another until you complete each one.

6.    Be determined and passionate to accomplish them. (Neh. 6:9)

NOTE THIS:

Live in God’s direction and not in devil’s distraction

RESPONSIBILITY:

1.    Be spiritually discerned at all times and

2.    Always be calm in the face of opposition and distraction.

PRAYER:

O God, I come against every plan of the enemy to distract me, in Jesus’ name Amen! (Go ahead and continue to pray)

PROPHETIC WORD:

Receive the grace to resist every tool the enemy has employ to distract you, in the name of Jesus, Amen.
