When God Delays What You Thought Was Urgent
Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional
Date: Monday, 30 March 2026
Topic: When God Offends Your Expectations (2)
Focus: When God Delays What You Thought Was Urgent
🔥Theme:
Sometimes the hardest moments in faith are not when God is absent—but when He does something we did not expect. He delays when we thought He would act. He allows what we thought He would prevent. He answers differently than we prayed. These moments can quietly shake our expectations of who God is and how He works.
This series explores the tension between expectation and reality—where disappointment meets faith, and where trust must grow deeper than understanding. This is where faith matures—from what you thought God would do… to trusting who He truly is.
📖 Key Verse:
“Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.” — Matthew 11:6
Devotional:
There are moments when something feels urgent to us. We pray with intensity, believing God should act quickly. We expect immediate intervention, fast answers, and visible change. But sometimes God delays. When Lazarus was sick, Jesus received the message that his friend was dying. Yet instead of rushing to Bethany, He waited two more days. To the people around Him, the delay seemed heartbreaking and unnecessary. But what looked like delay was actually preparation for a greater revelation.
📖 Scripture Reading:
- John 11:3–6, 14–15 — Jesus delays before raising Lazarus
- Habakkuk 2:3 — The vision will come at the appointed time
- Ecclesiastes 3:11 — God makes everything beautiful in its time
💧 Refreshing for the Day:
God does not measure urgency the way we do. What feels critical to us may be part of a bigger plan that requires time to unfold. Sometimes God delays because He intends to do something greater than what we originally asked for. Delay does not mean neglect. Delay does not mean indifference. Delay often means God is preparing something deeper. The same God who delays also arrives at the perfect moment. God’s delay is often the stage for a greater miracle. Stay Refreshed!
✨ Note This:
⏳ What feels late to you may be perfectly timed by God.
🛡️ Responsibility:
Instead of rushing God today, choose to trust His timing and remain faithful while you wait.
🙏 Prayer:
Father, help me trust You when answers take longer than I expect. Strengthen my faith during delays and remind me that Your timing is always perfect. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
🔥 Prophetic Declaration:
God’s timing governs my life. What He has promised will come to pass at the perfect moment. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
