When God Calls You to Tarry
Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional
Date: Sunday, 17 May 2026
Topic: The Upper Room Generation (1)
Focus: When God Calls You to Tarry
🔥Theme:
Tarrying, prayer, unity, and fresh Pentecost fire
📖 Key Verse:
“They all joined together constantly in prayer…” — Acts 1:14
Devotional:
One of the hardest things for modern believers is waiting. We want quick answers, immediate results, and visible movement. Yet before Pentecost, Jesus told the disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they were clothed with power from on high. The instruction was simple: tarry. Tarrying means remaining before God with hunger, expectation, and persistence. It is staying in His presence beyond convenience. It is refusing to move ahead without Him.
📖 Scripture Reading:
- Acts 1:4–5 — Wait for the promise
- Isaiah 40:31 — Those who wait on the Lord
- Psalm 27:14 — Wait for the Lord
💧 Refreshing for the Day:
The Upper Room teaches us that power is often preceded by waiting. Many want the fire without the waiting. Many desire the oil without the crushing. But heaven often responds to those willing to linger in God’s presence. Waiting is not wasted when it happens before God. God often prepares people in waiting before releasing power. Stay Refreshed!
✨ Note This:
🔥 Fire often falls on those willing to wait.
🛡️ Responsibility:
Spend extra intentional time in prayer today instead of rushing through God’s presence.
🙏 Prayer:
Father, teach me to wait before You with hunger and expectation. Help me value Your presence more than quick results and prepare my heart for fresh fire. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
🔥 Prophetic Declaration:
I am part of the Upper Room generation. My heart waits on God, and fresh fire is being prepared for my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
