When God Breaks What Was Holding You Back
Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional
Date: Friday, 17 April 2026
Topic: When God Breaks What You Built (6)
Focus: When God Breaks What Was Holding You Back
🔥Theme:
Trusting God when what you worked hard to build suddenly collapses.
📖 Key Verse:
Key Verse: “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.” — Psalm 127:1
Devotional:
Not everything that holds you back looks negative. Sometimes it looks comfortable, familiar, even “good.” Yet beneath the surface, it limits your growth. There are moments when God breaks something in your life—not because it is bad, but because it is restricting you from moving forward. Gideon’s story shows this clearly. Before God used him to deliver Israel, He instructed Gideon to tear down his father’s altar to Baal. That structure had stood for years, but it had to be broken before Gideon could step into his calling.
📖 Scripture Reading:
- Judges 6:25–26 — Gideon tears down the altar
- Isaiah 43:18–19 — God doing a new thing
- Philippians 3:13–14 — Moving forward
💧 Refreshing for the Day:
What was broken was not just an altar—it was a limitation. God may break what feels stable if it is quietly holding you back from your next level. Comfort zones, old patterns, and familiar environments can become barriers to growth. God does not break to reduce you. He breaks to release you. What falls apart may be what was preventing you from moving forward. God removes limitations to release new possibilities. Stay Refreshed!
✨ Note This:
🔓 What God breaks may be what was quietly holding you back.
🛡️ Responsibility:
Ask God today if there is something familiar He is asking you to release.
🙏 Prayer:
Father, help me release anything that is holding me back from Your purpose. Give me courage to move forward and trust the new direction You are leading me into. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
🔥 Prophetic Declaration:
God is removing every limitation in my life. I am moving forward into the purpose and freedom He has prepared for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
