When God Breaks You Before He Elevates You
Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional
Date: Thursday, 16 April 2026
Topic: When God Breaks What You Built (5)
Focus: When God Breaks You Before He Elevates You
🔥Theme:
Trusting God when what you worked hard to build suddenly collapses.
📖 Key Verse:
Key Verse: “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.” — Psalm 127:1
Devotional:
Before God raises someone up, He often allows them to be broken first. This breaking is not destruction—it is preparation. God cannot place greater responsibility on a heart that has not been refined. Pride, self-reliance, and hidden weaknesses must be shaped before elevation can be sustained. Joseph was broken through betrayal and prison before he was placed in leadership. David faced years of hardship before sitting on the throne. Even Jesus experienced the suffering of the cross before the glory of resurrection.
📖 Scripture Reading:
- 1 Peter 5:6 — Humble yourselves and God will lift you up
- James 4:10 — God exalts the humble
- Genesis 41:39–41 — Joseph elevated after preparation
💧 Refreshing for the Day:
So, beloved, breaking humbles the heart and strengthens character. It removes what cannot survive the weight of future calling. God does not break you to harm you. He breaks what cannot carry the destiny He is preparing. The breaking is often the doorway to the elevation. God often prepares leaders through seasons of humility. Stay Refreshed!
✨ Note This:
🔥 God refines the vessel before He releases the calling.
🛡️ Responsibility:
Allow God to shape your character today instead of resisting the process.
🙏 Prayer:
Father, prepare my heart for everything You have planned for my life. Shape my character and remove anything that would prevent me from walking in Your purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
🔥 Prophetic Declaration:
God is preparing me for greater purpose. Every season of refinement is leading me toward the destiny He has designed. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
