WAYS ONE CAN STAY PURE IN A CONTAMINATING WORLD

TIMES OF REFRESHING

ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL by Obiorah Prince Emeka

DATE: FRIDAY 16 OCTOBER 2020

Yesterday, we learnt that total surrender to the Lordship of Christ (Romans 6:11-13), complete reliance and absolute submission to the power of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:6), and a conscious renewal of our minds daily by meditating and obeying God’s word (Romans 12:1-2) can help one stay pure in a contaminating world.

Today, let us look at proven ways to achieve this feat.

SCRIPTURE:

I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one, (John 17:15) ESV

REFRESHING FOR THE DAY:

The power of purity rests in one’s ability to stay away from the impure.

The world is indeed contaminating and tempting, so we can only continue to seek counsel and strength more dynamic than the tempting influences around us.

PROVEN WAYS TO STAY PURE IN A CONTAMINATED WORLD

1.    Reprogram your mind daily: Right thinking is foundational to right living. Concentrate, meditate, focus upon those things that are wholesome (Philippians 4).

2.    Plunge your mind in spiritual truth and plead to Christ for mental purity by continuing cleansing of your thought, (Psalm 119:9).

3.    Clothe yourself with presence of Christ, (Romans 13:14).

4.    Separate from dishonorable vessels (those who insist on flirting with sin, flaunting sin, and being frivolous about sin.), (2 Timothy 2:19-22).

Beloved, do you want to stay pure in life? Be willing to stay away from every form of evil. Don’t keep something that will keep hurting you. Be willing to sacrifice this for your purity! Stay Lifted!

NOTE THIS:

The power of purity rests in one’s ability to stay away from the impure.

RESPONSIBILITY:

Ask God to make you pure, even in this contaminated world.

PRAYER:

O LORD, clothe me with your presence and make me pure, in Jesus name, Amen! (Go ahead and continue to pray)

PROPHETIC WORD:

You are free from every wordily contamination, in the name of Jesus, Amen.

BIBLE TEXTS: John 17:15, 2 Tim. 2:19-22, Phill. 4, Psalm 119:9
