Waiting Was Never Wasted
Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional
Date: Monday, 3 August 2026
Topic: What Walking with Jesus Taught Me (2)
Focus: Waiting Was Never Wasted
🔥Theme:
The timeless wisdom and quiet lessons learned through a lifetime of walking with Christ.
📖 Key Verse:
“Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” — Matthew 11:29 (NIV)
Devotional:
If there is one lesson walking with Jesus has taught me, it is this: God never wastes a waiting season. There were times I prayed for doors to open immediately. I wanted answers without delay and breakthroughs without interruption. Waiting felt frustrating because I thought nothing was happening. But as the years passed, I realized that while I was waiting for God to change my circumstances, He was quietly changing me.
Many of the qualities I treasure today were not formed during my moments of success but during my seasons of waiting. Waiting taught me patience when I wanted quick answers. It taught me trust when I could not see the way ahead. It taught me contentment when life was not unfolding according to my plans. Most importantly, it taught me to value God’s presence more than His promises.
📖 Scripture Reading:
- Isaiah 40:31 — “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength…”
- Psalm 27:14 — “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
- Romans 8:25 — “If we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.”
💧 Refreshing for the Day:
Looking back, I can now thank God for some of the prayers He delayed. Had He answered them when I wanted, I might not have been ready for the blessing. His timing protected me, matured me, and prepared me. What I once saw as God’s delay, I now recognize as God’s wisdom. The greatest discovery I made was that waiting with Jesus is never empty. He is always at work, even when His work is hidden. He prepares hearts before He fulfills promises. He shapes character before He enlarges assignments. He teaches us to depend on Him before entrusting us with greater responsibilities.
What walking with Jesus taught me is this: Waiting is not God’s way of ignoring us. It is often His way of preparing us for something greater than we can presently see. Stay Refreshed!
✨ Note This:
🌿 Every season of waiting is also a season of preparation in the hands of God.
🛡️ Responsibility:
Instead of asking, “Lord, why am I still waiting?” ask, “Lord, what are You teaching me while I wait?” Trust Him enough to believe that His timing is always wiser than your own.
🙏 Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding me that no season of waiting is ever wasted in Your hands. Forgive me for the times I have become impatient or questioned Your timing. Teach me to trust Your wisdom, rest in Your presence, and embrace the work You are doing within me. Help me to wait with hope, confidence, and expectation, knowing that You are preparing me for everything You have planned. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
🌿 Prophetic Declaration:
I declare that my waiting is not in vain. God is working behind the scenes for my good and for His glory. He is strengthening my faith, shaping my character, and preparing me for His perfect purpose. I will not become discouraged by delay, for I trust the Lord’s timing. At the appointed time, His promises will come to pass, and I will rejoice in His faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
