Love Is Stronger Than Being Right

Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional

Date: Tuesday, 4 August 2026

Topic: What Walking with Jesus Taught Me (3)

Focus: Love Is Stronger Than Being Right

🔥Theme:

The timeless wisdom and quiet lessons learned through a lifetime of walking with Christ.

📖 Key Verse:
“Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”Matthew 11:29 (NIV)

Devotional:

One of the hardest lessons Jesus taught me was that being right is not always the most important thing. There were times I wanted to prove my point, defend myself, or make sure others knew I was correct. But as I walked with Christ, I realized that winning an argument can sometimes mean losing an opportunity to reflect His love. Jesus was never afraid to speak the truth, yet He always spoke it with love. He corrected without humiliating, challenged without condemning, and restored those who were willing to return to Him. Even while hanging on the cross, He prayed for those who crucified Him. His love was stronger than the hatred directed toward Him.

Following Jesus taught me that love is not weakness. It takes far more strength to forgive than to seek revenge, to listen than to argue, and to show kindness when you have been treated unfairly. Love does not ignore the truth, but it refuses to use the truth as a weapon. It seeks restoration before vindication and peace before personal victory.

📖 Scripture Reading:

  • 1 Corinthians 13:1–7 — Love is patient, love is kind.
  • Ephesians 4:15 — Speak the truth in love.
  • John 13:34–35 — By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.

💧 Refreshing for the Day:

I have learned that many relationships are healed not because someone finally proved they were right, but because someone chose humility. Pride builds walls; love builds bridges. Every time I chose grace over pride, forgiveness over resentment, and understanding over accusation, I saw the heart of Jesus more clearly. Walking with Jesus has taught me that people rarely remember who won the argument. They remember who showed them the love of Christ. And in the end, becoming more like Jesus is far more valuable than simply being proven right.

The strongest evidence that you are walking with Jesus is not that you always win arguments, but that you consistently reflect His love. Stay Refreshed!

Note This:

🌿 You may win an argument and still lose a heart. Jesus calls us to speak the truth with love, so that both truth and grace are seen together.

🛡️ Responsibility:

Think about a relationship where pride, offense, or the need to be right has created distance. Ask God to help you take the first step toward peace. Let your words and actions reflect the love of Christ more than the desire to prove yourself.

🙏 Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me with patience, mercy, and grace. Forgive me for the times I have valued being right more than loving others well. Fill my heart with the compassion of Christ. Teach me to speak the truth with humility, to forgive quickly, and to seek peace wherever possible. Let my life be known not for winning arguments, but for reflecting the love of Jesus. In His precious name, Amen!

🌿 Prophetic Declaration:

The love of Christ rules my heart. Pride, bitterness, and selfish ambition have no place in me. I will walk in humility, extend forgiveness, and speak with grace. Through the Holy Spirit, I will become a peacemaker, reflecting the heart of Jesus in every relationship. My life will reveal His love to a hurting world. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
