The Spirit of the Fear of the Lord (4)

Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional

Date: Wednesday, 22 October 2025

Topic: The Spirit of the Fear of the Lord (4)

Focus: The Fear That Keeps You from Sin

🔥 Message:

The Fear of the Lord is not terror—it is reverence, awe, and holy submission to God’s majesty. It is the posture of heart that says, “Lord, I honor You above all.” To walk in the fear of the Lord is to live conscious of His presence, careful with His Word, and captivated by His holiness. Proverbs 9:10 declares: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

Beloved, this is not the fear that drives you away from God—it’s the fear that draws you closer, knowing He is holy yet merciful, mighty yet near. So, over the next seven days, we will journey into the sacred beauty of holy reverence—learning how this Spirit transforms how we pray, serve, love, and live.

📖 Key Verse:

Proverbs 9:10 (NKJV): “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

Devotional:
The Spirit of the Fear of the Lord is one of the greatest protections against sin. It keeps your heart tender and your conscience awake. When this holy fear fills your life, sin loses its grip because your deepest desire becomes to please God. Proverbs 16:6 says:

“By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil.”

The fear of the Lord is not about being afraid of punishment—it’s about valuing God’s presence too much to lose it. Joseph demonstrated this when tempted by Potiphar’s wife. He said, “How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?” (Genesis 39:9). His reverence for God overpowered his temptation.

📖 Scripture Reading:
Proverbs 16:6 – The fear of the Lord keeps men from evil.
Genesis 39:7–9 – Joseph resists temptation out of reverence for God.
Philippians 2:12–13 – Work out your salvation with fear and trembling.

💧 Refreshing for the Day:
So, beloved, when you fear the Lord, compromise becomes costly, and holiness becomes your joy. It’s the awareness that your actions matter before a holy God who loves you deeply. The Spirit of the Fear of the Lord doesn’t just convict—it empowers. It gives you the strength to walk away from sin and the grace to walk uprightly before God. Holy fear is Heaven’s firewall—it keeps sin out and purity in. Stay Refreshed!

Note This:
🔥 The fear of the Lord makes holiness your delight, not your burden.

🛡️ Responsibility:
✅ When temptation comes, whisper: “Lord, I fear You more than I desire this.” Let reverence outweigh compromise.

🙏 Prayer:
Lord, let Your holy fear fill my heart. Keep me far from sin and close to Your presence. Teach me to love righteousness and hate wickedness as You do. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

🔥 Prophetic Declaration:
I walk in holy fear! Sin has no power over me, and my life is governed by the reverence of the Lord. I am preserved by purity and strengthened by His Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
