The Spirit of the Fear of the Lord (5)

Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional

Date: Thursday, 23 October 2025

Topic: The Spirit of the Fear of the Lord (5)

Focus: The Fear That Births Obedience

🔥 Message:

The Fear of the Lord is not terror—it is reverence, awe, and holy submission to God’s majesty. It is the posture of heart that says, “Lord, I honor You above all.” To walk in the fear of the Lord is to live conscious of His presence, careful with His Word, and captivated by His holiness. Proverbs 9:10 declares: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

Beloved, this is not the fear that drives you away from God—it’s the fear that draws you closer, knowing He is holy yet merciful, mighty yet near. So, over the next seven days, we will journey into the sacred beauty of holy reverence—learning how this Spirit transforms how we pray, serve, love, and live.

📖 Key Verse:

Proverbs 9:10 (NKJV): “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

Devotional:
Obedience flows naturally from reverence. The Spirit of the Fear of the Lord doesn’t make you serve God out of duty—it compels you to obey out of delight. When you truly honor Him, His Word is not a burden but a joy. Deuteronomy 10:12–13 says: “And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to Him, to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the Lord’s commands…”

To fear God is to trust that His commands are right, His ways are good, and His heart is for you. Abraham showed this when he offered Isaac—God said, “Now I know that you fear God” (Genesis 22:12). His obedience proved his reverence.

📖 Scripture Reading:
Deuteronomy 10:12–13 – To fear God is to walk in obedience.
Genesis 22:12 – Abraham’s obedience revealed his fear of the Lord.
John 14:15 – “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”

💧 Refreshing for the Day:
The Spirit of the Fear of the Lord aligns your will with God’s will. It teaches you to say yes even when it costs you, and to follow even when it’s not convenient. It’s not fear that paralyzes; it’s reverence that propels. The more you fear God, the quicker you obey—and the quicker you obey, the deeper you walk in blessing. Holy fear makes obedience joyful, not painful. Stay Refreshed!

Note This:
🔥 The fear of the Lord makes your heart quick to say “Yes, Lord.”

🛡️ Responsibility:
✅ Reflect today: Is there an instruction you’ve delayed obeying? Ask for the Spirit of the Fear of the Lord to give you strength and joy to obey immediately.

🙏 Prayer:
Father, I choose to obey You because I love and revere You. Give me grace to trust Your commands and the courage to follow You completely. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

🔥 Prophetic Declaration:
I walk in joyful obedience! The Spirit of the Fear of the Lord fills me with reverence and readiness to do the will of my Father. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
