The Detours God Never Justified
Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional
Date: Wednesday, 17 June 2026
Topic: The Things God Didn’t Explain (4)
Focus: The Detours God Never Justified
🔥Theme:
Trusting God when He gives instructions without explanations.
📖 Key Verse:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5
Devotional:
One of the most confusing parts of following God is discovering that His route is often different from the one we expected. You pray for point A to point B. God takes you through C, D, E, and F. And He does not always explain why. When God brought Israel out of Egypt, Scripture says He did not lead them by the shortest route. Instead, He led them through the wilderness. From a human perspective, it made little sense. Why take the longer road? Why add extra distance? Why not go straight to the destination? Because God saw what they could not see. The shorter route would have exposed them to battles they were not yet prepared to fight. The detour was not a delay. The detour was protection.
📖 Scripture Reading:
- Exodus 13:17–18 — God leads Israel the longer way
- Romans 8:28 — God works all things together for good
- Psalm 37:23 — The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord
💧 Refreshing for the Day:
Many believers spend years frustrated with roads God never intended to explain. We call it a setback. God calls it preparation. We call it a delay. God calls it development. We call it a detour. God calls it wisdom. Looking back, many of us can see that some of our greatest blessings came through roads we never would have chosen. The job that fell through. The opportunity that disappeared. The season that lasted longer than expected. The move that made no sense at the time. What felt like interruption often became redirection. God does not always justify His detours. But He never wastes them. The road that makes the least sense today may make the most sense tomorrow. Stay Refreshed!
✨ Note This:
🛤️ Some of God’s greatest protections arrive disguised as detours.
🛡️ Responsibility:
Stop fighting the road you are on and ask God what He is teaching you through it.
🙏 Prayer:
Father, help me trust You when the journey does not make sense. When You lead me on roads I would not have chosen, remind me that Your wisdom is greater than my understanding. Teach me to walk with confidence, knowing You are directing my steps. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
🔥 Prophetic Declaration:
God is ordering my steps. Every detour, every delay, and every unexpected turn is working according to His purpose. I trust His direction and His timing. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
