The Altar and the Fire (4)
Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional
Date: Wednesday, 5 November 2025
Topic: The Altar and the Fire (4)
Focus: The Fire That Purifies
🔥 Message:
The fire of revival is sustained only on the altar of surrender. Without the altar, there can be no lasting flame. The Altar represents the place of sacrifice, intimacy, and prayer—where flesh dies, and God’s glory lives. The Fire represents His presence, passion, and power—Heaven’s response to a yielded heart. 1 Kings 18:30–39 records that Elijah rebuilt the altar of the Lord that had been torn down, and when he prayed, fire fell. God’s fire always responds to a restored altar.
So, beloved, in this devotional series, we’ll explore what it means to rebuild and maintain your spiritual altar—to become a life fully yielded, consistently burning, and unashamedly set apart for God.
📖 Key Verse:
1 Kings 18:30 (NIV): “Then Elijah said to all the people, ‘Come here to me.’ They came to him, and he repaired the altar of the Lord, which had been torn down.”
Devotional:
When God sends His fire, it does more than make you burn—it makes you pure. The fire of the Spirit is both passionate and purifying. It doesn’t only ignite; it refines.
Malachi 3:2–3 says: “For He is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap. He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; He will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver.”
Beloved, the altar is not a place of comfort; it’s a place of cleansing. The fire burns away pride, impurity, bitterness, and self—everything that cannot carry His glory. The Spirit’s fire consumes what hinders you so that what remains reflects Him. Just as gold must endure heat to reveal its beauty, your heart must pass through refining fire to reveal Christ.
📖 Scripture Reading:
Malachi 3:2–3 – He is like a refiner’s fire.
Isaiah 6:6–7 – The coal of fire touches Isaiah’s lips, cleansing him for service.
1 Peter 1:7 – The trial of your faith, refined by fire, results in praise and glory.
💧 Refreshing for the Day:
Many ask for revival, but few are willing to be purified. Yet the greatest evidence of God’s fire is not just power—it’s purity. The Spirit’s fire is not sent to destroy you, but to prepare you. When the refining is done, what emerges is a vessel that can contain His glory without cracking. The same fire that burns also beautifies. Stay Refreshed!
✨ Note This:
🔥 God’s fire removes what’s false so His image can shine through.
🛡️ Responsibility:
✅ Don’t resist the refining. Ask the Holy Spirit to burn away every impurity that dulls your spiritual glow. Surrender to the process—there’s glory on the other side.
🙏 Prayer:
Lord, refine me with Your fire. Burn away every impurity and make me a vessel of holiness. Let my life be a reflection of Your beauty and power. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
🔥 Prophetic Declaration:
I am being refined by fire! Every impurity is burned away, and the glory of God is revealed in me. I am purified, empowered, and made ready for His presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
