The Altar and the Fire (3)
Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional
Date: Tuesday, 4 November 2025
Topic: The Altar and the Fire (3)
Focus: Keep the Fire Burning
🔥 Message:
The fire of revival is sustained only on the altar of surrender. Without the altar, there can be no lasting flame. The Altar represents the place of sacrifice, intimacy, and prayer—where flesh dies, and God’s glory lives. The Fire represents His presence, passion, and power—Heaven’s response to a yielded heart. 1 Kings 18:30–39 records that Elijah rebuilt the altar of the Lord that had been torn down, and when he prayed, fire fell. God’s fire always responds to a restored altar.
So, beloved, in this devotional series, we’ll explore what it means to rebuild and maintain your spiritual altar—to become a life fully yielded, consistently burning, and unashamedly set apart for God.
📖 Key Verse:
1 Kings 18:30 (NIV): “Then Elijah said to all the people, ‘Come here to me.’ They came to him, and he repaired the altar of the Lord, which had been torn down.”
Devotional:
The greatest challenge is not to start the fire—it’s to keep it burning. The Spirit of Revival may ignite the flame, but it is your devotion that sustains it. God’s command to Israel was clear: “The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.” —Leviticus 6:13 The priests were responsible for feeding the fire daily. They had to remove ashes and place fresh wood every morning. That means yesterday’s fire is not enough for today’s journey. Spiritual consistency keeps divine fire alive.
Many believers experience moments of spiritual passion—after a retreat, a sermon, or a personal breakthrough—but the flame soon fades because the altar is neglected. The fire doesn’t die because God withdraws; it dies because we stop feeding it.
📖 Scripture Reading:
Leviticus 6:12–13 – The fire must never go out.
2 Timothy 1:6 – “Fan into flame the gift of God.”
Psalm 63:1–2 – “My soul thirsts for You… in a dry and weary land.”
💧 Refreshing for the Day:
Prayer, worship, the Word, and obedience are the “wood” that keeps the flame alive. The fire burns where there is discipline, not just emotion. If you want the flame of God to stay strong, you must make tending your altar a daily priority. The secret to a life that burns continuously is this: never let the altar go cold. God starts the fire, but you must feed it. Stay Refreshed!
✨ Note This:
🔥 The consistency of your altar determines the intensity of your fire.
🛡️ Responsibility:
✅ Set a specific time every day to meet with God. Protect it fiercely. Let that become your daily altar where the flame is tended and renewed.
🙏 Prayer:
Lord, teach me to guard the fire You’ve placed in me. Help me to remain consistent in prayer, passionate in worship, and faithful in Your Word. May my altar never go cold.
🔥 Prophetic Declaration:
My fire will not go out! I am disciplined, devoted, and daily refreshed by the Spirit. The flame of God burns brighter in me each day.
📖 Bible Texts:
