REASONS WHY CHRISTIANS DON’T PRAY

TIMES OF REFRESHING

ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL by Obiorah Prince Emeka

Yesterday, it was recognized that prayer is the authority of every believer and it is a medium by which God reveals His ultimate plans to man. And when men stop praying, they distance themselves from the plan of divinity.

Now let us carefully x-ray reasons why many Christians don’t pray and explore ways to overcome them. So today, we shall be looking at ‘Lack of spiritual discipline’, and others subsequently.

SCRIPTURE:

Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this, (Psalm 37:4-5) NIV

REFRESHING FOR THE DAY:

The spiritual health of a person is measured by the quality of his prayer life.

Truthfully, we know that prayer is important; that prayer effects change; that prayer is our lifeline to God; yes, we know all these, and yet…we don’t pray. Have you ever wondered why some us set alarms at night to pray; and when it snoozes, we will quickly stretch our hands, switch it off and continue our sweet sleep. It is because we lack spiritual discipline.

Our anchor scripture says, “Delight yourself in the Lord, commit your way to the Lord.” Many have the desire to pray but never get around to it. We may delight in the Lord and desire to spend time with Him but it takes commitment and discipline if we are to follow through on our desire and spend time with Him in prayer.

Beloved, no one will ever spend regular quality time in prayer without commitment and discipline. We must resolve that nothing will get in our way of spending time with God. It will help to set apart a specific time for daily prayer. Follow it and never give up. If you miss one day just take up where you left off the next day and keep pressing on.

Stay Lifted!
