PRAYING WITHOUT CEASING

TIMES OF REFRESHING ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org

DATE: THURSDAY, 29 SEPTEMBER 2022

One of the greatest assets we have as believers is prayer. Prayer is a gift given to us that serves very unique purposes in our Christian lives. Prayer facilitates intimacy and communion with God, transformation of our lives, as well as warfare against the enemy. Despite how great an asset prayer is to the body of Christ; it is usually very underutilized. Even when we do pray, many believers do not pray effectively.  So today we will explore the topic of prayer and why scripture admonished us thus saying:

SCRIPTURE: Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV)

REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: Beloved, I tell you most sincerely, most of the problem of the believer will be settled on the altar of prayer. But we must be diligent enough to sow the seed of prayer and sacrifice the time and effort that prayer demands. We must also be cautious not pray amiss like scripture warned (James 4:3) so that we do not end up in frustration thinking God simply does not answer prayers. Rather, when we pray, we must seek the help of the Holy Spirit because we truly do not know what to pray but The Spirit intercedes for us through wordless groans (Romans 8:26). We shall look further into this topic of prayer tomorrow but until then, Stay Refreshed!

NOTE THIS: Most of the problems of believers is settled on the alter of prayer.

RESPONSIBILITY: Make a decision today to return to and fan the flames of your prayer altar.

PRAYER: O LORD, I come to you today, teach me to pray, help my prayer infirmity, in Jesus’ Amen! (Go ahead and pray for other intentions as the Spirit leads)

PROPHETIC WORD: May the Holy Spirit strengthen and quicken you as you make a resolve to live a life of prayer, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!

BIBLE TEXTS: 1 Thess 5:16-18, James 4:3, Romans 8:26
