When God Becomes Bigger Than Your Expectations

Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional

Date: Saturday, 4 April 2026

Topic: When God Offends Your Expectations (7)

Focus: When God Becomes Bigger Than Your Expectations

🔥Theme:

Sometimes the hardest moments in faith are not when God is absent—but when He does something we did not expect. He delays when we thought He would act. He allows what we thought He would prevent. He answers differently than we prayed. These moments can quietly shake our expectations of who God is and how He works. This series explores the tension between expectation and reality—where disappointment meets faith, and where trust must grow deeper than understanding.

📖 Key Verse:
“Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.” — Matthew 11:6

Devotional:

Expectations shape how we see God. We imagine how He should act, when He should intervene, and what the outcome should look like. But there comes a moment in every believer’s journey when God becomes bigger than those expectations. What you thought He would do… He does differently. What you thought He would stop… He allows. What you thought would end one way… unfolds another. And yet, through it all, you begin to see something deeper: God was not failing your expectations—He was expanding your understanding of Him.

📖 Scripture Reading:

  • Matthew 11:6 — Blessed is the one who does not stumble
  • Ephesians 3:20 — God able to do exceedingly more
  • Isaiah 55:8–9 — God’s ways higher than ours

💧 Refreshing for the Day:

God is always greater than what we expected Him to be. Peter expected a conquering Messiah, but he encountered a suffering Savior who would change the world. The disciples expected immediate victory, yet the cross came before the resurrection. When faith matures, God is no longer confined to our expectations. We trust Him not because we understand everything—but because we know who He is. The greatest breakthrough in faith is when you stop trying to fit God into your expectations and start trusting Him completely. Stay Refreshed!

Note This:

🔥 When expectations fall, deeper faith can rise.

🛡️ Responsibility:

Release any expectations that limit how you see God, and trust His wisdom fully.

🙏 Prayer:

Father, help me trust You beyond my expectations. Expand my understanding of who You are and strengthen my faith in Your perfect wisdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

🔥 Prophetic Declaration:

My faith is rooted in who God is, not in what I expected Him to do. His plans for my life are greater than I imagined. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
