When Delay Breaks Your Confidence in Yourself
Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional
Date: Thursday, 23 April 2026
Topic: Delayed Destiny (5)
Focus: When Delay Breaks Your Confidence in Yourself
🔥Theme:
Trusting God when the promise takes longer than expected.
📖 Key Verse:
Key Verse: “Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.” — Habakkuk 2:3
Devotional:
Long delays have a way of exposing what we were really trusting in. At first, we may believe our talent, our effort, our connections, or our own strength will help bring the promise to pass. But when time stretches and nothing moves, self-confidence begins to crack. This can feel frustrating, but it is often necessary. God sometimes allows delay to break confidence in self so confidence in Him can grow. If destiny could be reached by human strength alone, we would never learn true dependence on God.
📖 Scripture Reading:
- Exodus 3:10–11 — Moses questions himself
- 2 Corinthians 12:9 — Power made perfect in weakness
- Proverbs 3:5 — Trust in the Lord
💧 Refreshing for the Day:
Moses spent years in the wilderness after fleeing Egypt. The confidence of the prince had to be broken so the humility of the deliverer could be formed. Delay strips away pride. Delay teaches surrender. Delay reveals where true strength comes from. When confidence in yourself fades, trust in God can become stronger than ever. God often delays the promise to deepen dependence on Him. Stay Refreshed!
✨ Note This:
🔥 Delay breaks self-confidence so God-confidence can rise.
🛡️ Responsibility:
Instead of asking, “Why is this taking so long?” ask, “What is God teaching me through this?”
🙏 Prayer:
Father, when delay shakes my confidence, help me trust You more deeply. Teach me dependence on Your strength and not my own understanding. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
🔥 Prophetic Declaration:
My confidence is in God alone. Every delay is teaching me trust, humility, and deeper faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
