The danger of gaining the things this world calls wealth while neglecting the only riches that can truly satisfy the soul—a life that is rich toward God.

“This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.” — Luke 12:21
Devotional:
It is possible to have many of the things we once prayed for and still feel that something is missing. The house can be beautiful. The bills can be paid. The career can be progressing. The children can be doing well. We can travel, achieve, acquire, and enjoy the comforts we once dreamed about. And still… The soul can be empty. This is one of the great deceptions of life: believing that the next achievement will finally satisfy what the last one could not. We tell ourselves, “When I get there, I will be happy.” But we arrive, celebrate for a while, and soon discover another desire waiting.
Jesus spoke about a rich man whose land produced abundantly. His problem was not that his harvest was large. His tragedy was that he had prepared everything for his future except his soul. His barns were full, but he was not rich toward God.

That can happen to us too. We can build our careers and neglect our souls. We can enlarge our houses and shrink our prayer lives. We can increase our possessions while losing our hunger for God. We can look successful to everyone around us and still be spiritually poor. There is nothing wrong with enjoying what God has provided. But His gifts were never designed to replace Him. Money can solve many problems, but it cannot satisfy the deepest hunger of the human heart. That place belongs to God. And sometimes the emptiness we keep trying to fill with more is actually our soul calling us back to Him. A full bank account, a successful life, and a comfortable home cannot fill the place in the human heart that was created for God. Stay Refreshed!

🌿 The greatest poverty is not having little. It is having everything the world can give while the soul remains empty of God.
🛡️ Responsibility:
Look honestly at what occupies most of your attention, energy, and desire. Ask yourself: “Am I building everything around me while neglecting what God is building within me?” Make deliberate room for God today—not because you need something from Him, but because you need Him.
🙏 Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for every blessing You have placed in my life. Keep my heart from allowing Your gifts to take Your place. Where success, possessions, ambition, or comfort have weakened my hunger for You, draw me back. Teach me to enjoy what You provide without making it the source of my identity or satisfaction. Above everything I may gain in this life, let my soul remain rich in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
🌿 Prophetic Declaration:
My life will not be full of earthly things and empty of God. I will enjoy God’s blessings with gratitude, but my heart will belong to Jesus. Success will not become my identity, possessions will not become my security, and ambition will not replace my devotion. I will be rich in faith, rich in love, rich in wisdom, rich in good works, and above all, rich toward God. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
