The danger of gaining the things this world calls wealth while neglecting the only riches that can truly satisfy the soul—a life that is rich toward God.

“This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.” — Luke 12:21
Devotional:
Money is useful. It pays bills, provides comfort, creates opportunities, and helps us care for the people we love. Scripture does not teach us to despise money. But wisdom teaches us to understand its limits. There are places money simply cannot reach. Money can buy a beautiful house, but it cannot guarantee peace inside it. It can pay for the best bed, but it cannot guarantee restful sleep. It can provide excellent medical care, but it cannot give life. It can attract people, but it cannot purchase genuine love. It can create comfort, but it cannot heal an empty soul.
This is where we sometimes become confused. Because money can solve many problems, we begin expecting it to solve every problem. We work harder, acquire more, and tell ourselves that when we finally have enough, peace will come. But some needs are deeper than money.

- Matthew 6:19–21 — “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
- 1 Timothy 6:17 — Do not put your hope in uncertain riches, but in God who richly provides.
💧 Refreshing for the Day:
Jesus told the woman at the well that whoever drank ordinary water would thirst again, but the water He gives becomes a spring of eternal life. He was pointing to a hunger within us that earthly things can satisfy only temporarily. Money is a good servant, but a terrible savior. There are moments when what we really need cannot be deposited into an account. We need forgiveness. We need peace with God. We need wisdom. We need strength when our hearts are breaking. We need hope when tomorrow looks uncertain. Above all, we need Jesus.
So, beloved, pursue excellence. Work diligently. Build wisely. Provide for your family. Be generous. Enjoy God’s blessings with gratitude. But never ask money to do what only God can do. The richest life is not simply the life that has accumulated much. It is the life that has discovered treasures money could never purchase. And the greatest of those treasures is Christ. Stay Refreshed!

🛡️ Responsibility:
Think about something you have been expecting money, success, or possessions to give you. Is it security, peace, acceptance, significance, or happiness? Bring that deeper need honestly before God today and ask Him to become your source in that area.
🙏 Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for every resource and blessing You have entrusted to me. Give me wisdom to use money without allowing money to rule my heart. Keep me from looking to possessions, success, or financial security for what only You can provide. Teach me to work faithfully, give generously, live gratefully, and find my deepest satisfaction in You. May Jesus always remain the greatest treasure of my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

My hope will not rest in uncertain riches. God is my source, my security, and my satisfaction. I will use earthly resources with wisdom, gratitude, and generosity, but they will not possess my heart. My peace is in Christ, my identity is in Christ, and my greatest treasure is Christ. I will be rich in the things money cannot buy and rich toward God. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
