Volumes have been written on ways to become a better you, but insights from the Scripture are rarely not one of those volumes. What is the difference? Every other teaching and counsel demonstrate to us that becoming a better person is mostly achieved by correcting behaviours. While insights from the Scripture proffers it can only be accomplished by a genuine repentance— a change of character, a change of morality, a renewal of spirit and a transformation of heart. The former approach comes from the outside, but the latter resonates from the inside. So, we focus on the latter approach.
SCRIPTURE: If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chr 7:14) NIV
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: The sincere desire of becoming a better person begins with a genuine repentance (1 John 1:9). It consists of honest perception of our own guilt and sinfulness (Acts 3:19). A heartfelt confession of our sins and acceptance of God’s mercy in Christ Jesus (Prov. 28:13). Then an actual hatred of our sins (Psm 119:128; 2 Cor 7:10) and turning from it to God. And making a consistent effort to lead a holy life, walking with God and being obedient to His instructions (Deut 5:33; Ex 19:5).
And when these are achieved, beloved, you are on the threshold of becoming a better person. Stay Refreshed!
