THE VICTORY OF THE CROSS

TIMES OF REFRESHING ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org

DATE: FRIDAY, 29 MARCH 2024

The cross stands as one of the most profound symbols in human history—a symbol of suffering and shame, yet also a symbol of victory and redemption. On Good Friday, Christians around the world pause to reflect on the paradoxical nature of the cross and the triumph it represents.

SCRIPTURE: “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” — 1 Corinthians 1:18 (NIV)

REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: The cross, an instrument of torture and execution, may seem like an unlikely symbol of victory. Yet, in God’s economy, it represents the ultimate triumph of love over hate, light over darkness, and life over death. Jesus’ crucifixion was a moment of excruciating suffering and shame, yet through His sacrificial death, He ushered in a new era of hope and redemption for all humanity. So, as we contemplate the paradoxical victory of the cross, let us remember that what may seem like defeat in the eyes of the world is, in fact, the greatest triumph in the divine plan of redemption. Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, we find hope, forgiveness, and eternal life. Stay Refreshed!

NOTE THIS: The cross, an instrument of torture and shame, becomes the platform for God’s greatest triumph. In the eyes of the world, it represents defeat and failure. Yet, through the lens of faith, it becomes the epitome of victory.

RESPONSIBILITY: May we never cease to marvel at the power of the cross and the victory it represents over sin and death.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, we thank You for the victory won for us at the cross of Jesus Christ. Help us to grasp the depth of Your love and the power of His sacrifice. May we live each day in the reality of this victory, walking in freedom, joy, and gratitude. In the name of Jesus, we pray, Amen!

PROPHETIC WORD: And may we share the good news of the cross with all who need to hear, that they too may experience the transformative power of God’s love. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
