The Oil of Intimacy (4)

Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional

Date: Wednesday, 16 July 2025

Topic: The Oil of Intimacy (4)

Focus: Trim the Wick

🔥 Message:

In the parable of the ten virgins, all had lamps—but only five had extra oil. When the cry rang out, “The Bridegroom is coming!”, it wasn’t enough to just look ready. The wise were those who had cultivated a lifestyle of intimacy, preparation, and extra devotion.

This series is a call to live like the wise virgins. To go beyond surface-level faith and carry the secret oil of deep communion with Jesus.

📖 Key Verse:

Matthew 25:4 – “The wise took oil in jars along with their lamps.”

Devotional:
Oil alone doesn’t keep a lamp burning brightly—the wick must be trimmed. In biblical times, trimming the wick was a regular act of maintenance to remove the burnt, charred parts that dimmed the flame. Without trimming, the lamp would smoke, flicker, or even go out. Spiritually, trimming the wick means allowing God to cut away the things that hinder your brightness—offense, pride, unforgiveness, busyness, hidden sin. These are the charred edges that cloud the flame of intimacy.

📖 Scripture Reading:
Matthew 5:16 – “Let your light shine before others…”
John 15:2 – “He prunes… so it will be even more fruitful.”
Hebrews 12:1 – “Let us throw off everything that hinders…”

💧 Refreshing for the Day:
Many want more oil, but they’re unwilling to be pruned. Yet Jesus said in John 15:2, “Every branch that does bear fruit He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.” Beloved, God trims us not to harm us, but to make room for clearer, brighter fire. So, let Him remove what no longer belongs. A burning lamp must be maintained. Let the fire burn clean. God doesn’t just fill you with oil—He shapes you to burn clean and bright. Stay Refreshed!

Note This:
You can’t burn with yesterday’s ashes. Let God trim what’s dead.

🛡️ Responsibility:
✅ Ask the Holy Spirit today: “What do You want to trim in me?” Listen. Confess. Surrender. Let Him refine you for greater flame.

🙏 Prayer:
Father, I invite Your hand to trim what needs to go. Remove the things that dim my light. Purify my heart. Let me burn brighter and cleaner for You—unhindered and full of holy fire. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

🔥 Prophetic Declaration:
I am trimmed and burning! The dead weight is falling off. My light shines with clarity and power. I will not flicker or fade—I burn with a steady flame for the glory of God! Alleluia!
