One major thing that could make a person go through life always feeling wrong on the inside is the ‘difference mentality’. We always wish we were created differently. We compare ourselves with others and wish away who we are. The tall would wish they were taller; the dark would wish they were fair, and light skinned. We ignorantly silence and suppress the gift of God in our lives while we keep desiring the talents and the gifting of another. Hence, when all these are not coming forth, we become bitter and resentful, beating ourselves up.
SCRIPTURE: You are altogether beautiful, my love; there is no flaw in you. (Songs of Solomon 4:7 ESV)
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: But, beloved, the truth is, we are getting it all wrong. We are not supposed to beat ourselves up because we are not looking like others. We are made uniquely in the image and likeness of God (Gen 1:26). And so, we are our own spec. We are original and not a counterfeit. So, learn to appreciate yourself and accept who God has made you to be. Instead of comparing yourself with others, be grateful to God for who you are. God does not make mistakes. Everything He gave you fits you for your assignment. Your color, your talent, your gifting, they all fit you. So, be proud of yourself and serve God happily with your life. Stay Refreshed!
NOTE THIS: When you wait to be like others before you make a mark in your life and generation, you will have to wait forever.
RESPONSIBILITY: So, accept who God has made you to be, and improve on yourself.
PRAYER: O LORD, cause me to accept who You created me to be, and improve on it to make a mark in my generation, in the name of Jesus’ Amen! (Go ahead and pray for other intentions as the Spirit leads)
PROPHETIC WORD: May God help you to accept yourself and cause you to make a mark in your life and generation, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!
