Beloved, the most important relationship you have is the relationship with yourself. Yes, this is true. Relationship with yourself is the basis of every relationship. It resonates the love for self and others. You can’t love others if you don’t first love yourself. Any wonder too many people go through life feeling wrong on the inside, with this animosity and self-resentment. So, in this series, we shall be looking at ‘The Mystery of Yourself’, who are you, your passions and how to get the best of you.
SCRIPTURE: …‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:31 NIV)
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: The joy and the happiness we yearn for start with us. But then, you will see people who don’t like who they are; they focus on their faults and weaknesses; they recreate their mistakes and failures. They wish they were created differently, had a better personality, instead of accepting themselves as a masterpiece, made in the image of God. And at the end, they wonder why they’re not happy, and why they don’t have good relationships? It’s because they don’t like themselves. If you don’t get along with you, you’re not going to get along with other people.
So, dear friend in Christ, my counsel to you is this, quit dwelling on the negative and beating yourself up. It won’t help you to do better, it can only stall you from moving forward. Begin to feel better about yourself, love yourself, forgive yourself. When you love yourself, then you can love others. When you’re kind to yourself, then you can be kind to others – it all starts with you. We will continue tomorrow, but till then, Stay Refreshed!
NOTE THIS: The best gift you can give to yourself is the gift of ‘yourself’. So, love yourself, forgive yourself. The better you feel about yourself, the better you’ll do. The more you like yourself the further you’ll go.
RESPONSIBILITY: So, go to God in prayer, ask Him to help your life, and cause you to love yourself.
PRAYER: O LORD, help my life. Cause me to always love myself, in the name of Jesus’ Amen! (Go ahead and pray for other intentions as the Spirit leads)
PROPHETIC WORD: May God help you and cause you to love yourself, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!
