The Fire That Survived the Delay

Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional

Date: Wednesday, 15 July 2026

Topic: The Fire That Refused to Die (4)

Focus: The Fire That Survived the Delay

🔥Theme:

Keeping spiritual passion alive through disappointment, delay, and changing seasons.

📖 Key Verse:
“The fire must be kept burning on the altar continuously; it must not go out.” — Leviticus 6:13

Devotional:

Some fires are not extinguished by storms. They are weakened by waiting. You prayed with confidence at first. You believed the answer was near. You expected the door to open, the promise to be fulfilled, or the situation to change. But days became months, months became years, and the answer still did not come. Delay can do something painful to the heart. It can turn expectation into exhaustion and excitement into quiet disappointment. Proverbs says, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick.” Sometimes the greatest battle is not believing that God can do it, but continuing to trust Him when He has not done it yet.

Abraham knew this kind of waiting. David was anointed long before he sat on the throne. Joseph carried dreams through slavery and prison before seeing their fulfillment. Their fire survived because their faith eventually became rooted in something deeper than immediate results.

📖 Scripture Reading:

  • Proverbs 13:12 — Hope deferred makes the heart sick.
  • Habakkuk 2:3 — Though it delays, wait for it.
  • Romans 12:11–12 — Keep your spiritual fervor; be patient in affliction and faithful in prayer.

💧 Refreshing for the Day:

This is the secret: if your fire depends only on receiving the answer, delay can extinguish it. But when your fire is rooted in who God is, you can keep burning even while you wait. Waiting does not mean pretending you are never tired. It means bringing your tired heart back to God again and again. It is choosing to pray one more prayer, sing one more song, trust for one more day, and refuse to let delay turn into distance from God. Perhaps the answer has taken longer than you expected. Perhaps you no longer carry the excitement you had at the beginning. But if you are still turning toward God, still whispering His name, still holding on to faith, then the fire is still alive. The delay may have tested your flame. But it did not extinguish it. You are still here. And you are still burning. Stay Refreshed!

Note This:

🔥 The strongest fire is not the one that burns only when prayers are answered—it is the one that still burns while heaven seems silent.

🛡️ Responsibility:

Bring one long-standing prayer back before God today. Not with pressure or desperation, but with renewed surrender. Tell Him, “Lord, whether the answer comes today or later, keep my heart close to You.”

🙏 Prayer:

Father, strengthen me in seasons of delay. Where waiting has exhausted my heart, renew my hope. Where disappointment has weakened my passion, breathe upon the fire again. Help me trust Your character when I cannot understand Your timing. Do not let delay create distance between us. Keep my heart tender, my faith alive, and my altar burning. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

🔥 Prophetic Declaration:

Delay will not extinguish the fire of God within me. I will not allow unanswered prayers to separate my heart from His presence. My hope is anchored in God’s character, my faith will endure through every season, and by His grace, I will remain burning, believing, and devoted until His purpose is fulfilled. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
