The Chapter You Tried to Forget

Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional

Date: Sunday, 21 June 2026

Topic: The Chapter God Didn’t Skip (1)

Focus: The Chapter You Tried to Forget

🔥Theme:

Why certain painful seasons were necessary.

📖 Key Verse:
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” — Romans 8:28

🌅 Series Introduction

If we were writing our own stories, there are chapters we would gladly remove. The chapter of loss. The chapter of waiting. The chapter of betrayal. The chapter of disappointment. The chapter of loneliness. The chapter of unanswered prayers. Yet when God writes a story, He rarely skips the chapters that shape the person. Joseph needed the prison. David needed the wilderness. Moses needed Midian. Job needed the trial. Jesus Himself passed through Gethsemane before Calvary and resurrection.

The painful chapters often become the chapters that explain everything that follows. This series is for everyone who has ever looked back and wondered: “Why did God leave that chapter in my life?” 🔥 Because sometimes the chapter you wanted removed became the chapter God used most.

Devotional:

Every person has a chapter they would rather not revisit. A painful season. A difficult relationship. A failure. A disappointment. A loss. Something you wish had never happened. When we read our lives, we often wish we could edit those pages. But God, the Author, leaves certain chapters in the story because they carry lessons that comfort never teaches. Joseph’s prison chapter was painful. David’s cave chapter was lonely. Naomi’s grief chapter was devastating. Yet those chapters became necessary parts of the greater story.

📖 Scripture Reading:

  • Genesis 50:20 — God meant it for good
  • Romans 8:28 — All things work together
  • Psalm 119:71 — It was good that I was afflicted

💧 Refreshing for the Day:

The truth is that God rarely wastes a chapter. What seemed unnecessary at the time often becomes understandable later. The chapter you tried to forget may contain some of the deepest work God ever did in you. Sometimes the chapters we would remove become the chapters that reveal God’s faithfulness most clearly. Stay Refreshed!

Note This:

📖 The chapter you wanted removed may become the chapter that explains the rest of the story.

🛡️ Responsibility:

Reflect on one difficult season from your past and ask God what He accomplished through it.

🙏 Prayer:

Father, help me trust You with the chapters I do not understand. Teach me to see Your hand even in the painful pages of my story. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

🔥 Prophetic Declaration:

God is writing my story with wisdom and purpose. No painful chapter is wasted, and every page is working together for His glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
