The Altar and the Fire (2)

Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional

Date: Monday, 3 November 2025

Topic: The Altar and the Fire (2)

Focus: The Fire That Follows Surrender

🔥 Message:

The fire of revival is sustained only on the altar of surrender. Without the altar, there can be no lasting flame. The Altar represents the place of sacrifice, intimacy, and prayer—where flesh dies, and God’s glory lives. The Fire represents His presence, passion, and power—Heaven’s response to a yielded heart. 1 Kings 18:30–39 records that Elijah rebuilt the altar of the Lord that had been torn down, and when he prayed, fire fell. God’s fire always responds to a restored altar.

So, beloved, in this devotional series, we’ll explore what it means to rebuild and maintain your spiritual altar—to become a life fully yielded, consistently burning, and unashamedly set apart for God.

📖 Key Verse:

1 Kings 18:30 (NIV): “Then Elijah said to all the people, ‘Come here to me.’ They came to him, and he repaired the altar of the Lord, which had been torn down.”

Devotional:
The fire of God never falls on the proud—it falls on the surrendered. The altar is not just a place of prayer; it’s a place of yielding. Until there is sacrifice, there can be no fire. In 1 Kings 18:33, Elijah placed the sacrifice upon the altar before calling for fire. The order is divine: altar first, sacrifice second, fire third. The fire always follows surrender. “Then he arranged the wood, cut the bull into pieces and laid it on the wood… Then the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice.” —1 Kings 18:33, 38

Surrender is not losing—it’s trading your weakness for His strength, your plans for His will, your control for His power. When you lay yourself on the altar, you make room for Heaven’s fire to consume everything that isn’t like God.

📖 Scripture Reading:
1 Kings 18:33, 38 – The fire falls on the sacrifice.
Romans 12:1–2 – Offer yourself as a living sacrifice.
Luke 9:23 – Deny yourself, take up your cross daily, and follow Me.

💧 Refreshing for the Day:
Too many want the fire without the sacrifice. But the fire only rests on what dies. Revival doesn’t start when you ask for more of God—it starts when God gets more of you.

When the Spirit finds a life fully yielded, the fire falls without delay. Fire follows surrender, not striving. Stay Refreshed!

Note This:
🔥 The altar without a sacrifice is just decoration—the fire comes when something dies.

🛡️ Responsibility:
✅ Identify one area in your life that God is calling you to surrender—an attitude, ambition, or habit. Place it on the altar in prayer today.

🙏 Prayer:
Lord, I lay myself before You again. Consume every part of me that resists Your will. Let Your fire fall and burn away pride, fear, and self-dependence. I am Yours completely. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

🔥 Prophetic Declaration:
I am fully surrendered! The fire of God rests upon my life, purifying my motives and empowering me for divine purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
