TAKE OFF THE FILTHY GARMENT
TIMES OF REFRESHING ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org
DATE: SATURDAY, 18 SEPTEMBER 2021
It’s time we all, with sincerity of heart begin to take notice why the world is filled with atrocities, yet we all appear innocent. Everyone is asking similar questions, ‘what went wrong’. But the simple answer resides in us. You see we all appear very clean and neat before the Lord on worship days, but our hearts are dirty and full of evil. Any wonder we pray, but nothing happens. But until we take away our filthy garment, repent from our sinful ways and turn to God, answers will remain far from us.
SCRIPTURE: Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel. The angel said to those who were standing before him, “Take off his filthy clothes.” (Zacharia 3:3-4) NIV
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: Beloved, it’s not how clean and neat our physical dress is on our body that matters most, but the purity of our spiritual garment. Sometimes appearance is deceptive. One could never be judged based on his physical appearance. That was the case of Joshua the High Priest in our anchor Scripture. He appeared before the Lord with a dignifying attire of the High Priest, but was spiritually clothed with filthy garment.
Too many of us are like Joshua, we appear in royal apparel in the physical, but look like a vulture in our heart; wearing stinky and smelly garments stained with all manner of sin. We’re so meticulous in taking good care of our physical body, but have done so little to our spiritual life. But today, we’re encouraged to come boldly to God our Father, confess our sins to Him and He will remove our filthy clothes of sin and adorn us with new clothes of righteousness and holiness (2 Cor. 5:21, Eph. 4:24). Stay Lifted!
NOTE THIS: It’s not how clean and neat our physical dress is on our body that matters most, but the purity of our spiritual garment.
RESPONSIBILITY: Run to God today, ask Him to help your life, for on your own you can do nothing.
PRAYER: O LORD, I come to you today, I repent of my sins, help my life and give me the grace to stay away from sin, in the name of Jesus’ Amen! (Go ahead and continue to pray)
PROPHETIC WORD: May God help your life and give you the grace to stay from sin, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!
BIBLE TEXTS: Zacharia 3:3-4, 2 Cor. 5:21, Eph. 4;24
