ONLY ONE THING IS NEEDED (2)
TIMES OF REFRESHING ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org
DATE: THURSDAY, 25 NOVEMBER 2021
Whatever we would be, and all that we’d achieve in life is ultimately dependent on the choice we make. Too many things glare at us, but just one thing is needed. If we get this one thing right, it would bring blessing and fruitfulness to everything we put our hands on. But, if we get it wrong, it would ripple negatively into every other area of our life, work and ministry.
SCRIPTURE: One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. (Psalm 27:4) NIV
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: Every good thing we seek in life, wealth, joy, favor, success, protection and victory are all an overflow from the continual staying in the presence of God. Any wonder David understood this principle, he longed for communion with God (Ps 24:7). He prioritized his relationship with God above everything else in his life. And it paid him off.
Beloved, can we learn from this uncommon character of David? As a king and a military leader, he had many responsibilities, he needed many things; the wisdom to lead his people, and all that, but he asked for just one thing—’to be in the presence of God all the days of his life’. What an uncommon personality, no wonder he had a special place in God’s heart. David was the only person in the Bible called a man after God’s own heart (1 Samuel 13:14, Acts 13:22). Stay Lifted!
NOTE THIS: Every good thing we seek in life is an overflow from the continual staying in the presence of God.
RESPONSIBILITY: Prioritize dwelling in God’s presence above every other thing in your life. Make it be a new habit in your life.
PRAYER: O LORD, give me the grace that I may dwell in your presence all the days of my life, in the name of Jesus’ Amen! (Go ahead and continue to pray)
PROPHETIC WORD: And may the overflow from dwelling in God’s presence fill you and yours with peace and abundant joy, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!
BIBLE TEXTS: Ps 27:4; 91:1, 1 Sam 13:14, Acts 13:22
