The Spirit of Counsel (4)

Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional

Date: Wednesday, 1 October 2025

Topic: The Spirit of Counsel (4)

Focus: The Safety of Godly Counsel

🔥 Message:

Life is full of decisions—some small, others destiny-defining. Human reasoning can only take you so far, but the Spirit of Counsel provides divine guidance that never fails. Counsel is more than advice; it is Heaven’s direction, given by the Spirit, that leads you into the path of God’s will. Psalm 16:7 declares: “I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel; my heart also instructs me in the night seasons.”

The Spirit of Counsel does not just answer questions—it aligns your heart with God’s wisdom, provides clarity in confusion, and gives peace in direction. He teaches you how to walk, when to wait, and where to go. This devotional series will help you learn how to recognize, receive, and walk in the counsel of God, so that your life decisions align with Heaven’s design.

📖 Key Verse:

Psalm 16:7 (NKJV): “I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel; my heart also instructs me in the night seasons.”

Devotional:
One of the ways the Spirit of Counsel works is through the wise voices God places in our lives. While we must hear God personally, He also confirms His counsel through godly mentors, leaders, and spiritual companions. Proverbs 11:14 reminds us: “Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.” Moses listened to Jethro’s counsel and avoided burnout (Exodus 18:19–23). Esther followed Mordecai’s counsel and saved her people (Esther 4:13–16). Even Paul received guidance from the church in Antioch before his missionary journeys (Acts 13:2–3).

📖 Scripture Reading:
Proverbs 11:14 – In the multitude of counselors there is safety.
Exodus 18:19–23 – Jethro counsels Moses.
1 Kings 12:8–16 – Rehoboam rejects wise counsel.

💧 Refreshing for the Day:
Godly counsel brings safety, clarity, and confirmation. But beware—ungodly counsel leads to destruction, as in the case of Rehoboam, who rejected wise advice and lost much of his kingdom (1 Kings 12:8–16). The Spirit of Counsel teaches humility: to value the wisdom of those God has placed around you, while always weighing it against His Word. Godly counsel protects you from pitfalls and confirms God’s direction. Stay Refreshed!

Note This:
🔥 Rejecting wise counsel exposes you; receiving it preserves you.

🛡️ Responsibility:
✅ Identify one godly voice in your life. Reach out today, share your journey, and seek their counsel in prayer and humility.

🙏 Prayer:
Lord, thank You for surrounding me with voices of wisdom. Help me to discern and receive godly counsel while rejecting voices that lead away from You. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

🔥 Prophetic Declaration:
I walk in the safety of godly counsel! I will not stumble, I will not fall—my steps are preserved by the Spirit of Counsel working in and through me. IN Jesus’ name, Amen!
