I Learned to Trust Before I Understood

Topic: Who I Became While Following Jesus (2)
Focus: I Learned to Trust Before I Understood
🔥Theme:
Many people can tell you what God gave them after following Jesus. Fewer can describe who they have become. The greatest miracle of the Christian life is not merely changed circumstances—it is a changed heart. As we walk with Christ day after day, often without realizing it, He patiently shapes us into people who look more like Him.
📖 Key Verse:
“And we all… are being transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory…” — 2 Corinthians 3:18
Devotional:
One of the greatest changes Jesus made in my life was not that He answered all my questions. It was that He taught me to trust Him even when I did not have all the answers. There was a time when I believed I needed to understand everything before I could obey. I wanted God to explain His plans, reveal His timing, and show me how every situation would turn out. But as I continued walking with Christ, I discovered that He often gives enough light for the next step, not the entire journey.
Faith does not grow because everything becomes clear. It grows because we continue walking with God when many things remain unclear. Abraham left his homeland without knowing his destination. Peter stepped out of the boat without knowing what the next few moments would hold. They were not following a detailed plan; they were following a faithful God.
📖 Scripture Reading:
- Proverbs 3:5–6 — Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
- Hebrews 11:8 — By faith Abraham obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.
- Isaiah 55:8–9 — My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways.
💧 Refreshing for the Day:
Looking back, I now realize that some of God’s greatest blessings came disguised as unanswered questions. There were doors He closed that I begged Him to open. There were delays I struggled to understand. There were seasons of silence that seemed confusing at the time. Yet with each passing year, I began to see that His wisdom was always greater than my understanding. Following Jesus has taught me that peace does not come from having every answer. Peace comes from knowing the One who holds every answer.
Today, I still have questions. There are things I do not fully understand. But I no longer measure God’s faithfulness by how much He explains to me. I measure it by the cross, by His promises, and by His unchanging character. Who I became while following Jesus is someone who trusts His heart, even when I cannot trace His hand. Stay Refreshed!
✨ Note This:
🌿 Spiritual maturity is not knowing everything God is doing; it is confidently following Him when you do not.
🛡️ Responsibility:
Think of one situation where you have been demanding answers from God. Today, release your need to understand every detail and choose to trust His wisdom, His timing, and His love.
🙏 Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for being completely trustworthy. Forgive me for the times I have allowed unanswered questions to weaken my confidence in You. Teach me to walk by faith and not by sight. When I do not understand Your ways, remind me that Your character never changes. Help me to follow You with a surrendered heart, trusting that You are working all things together for my good and for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
🌿 Prophetic Declaration:
I choose to trust God above my own understanding. My faith will not be shaken by unanswered questions or uncertain seasons. The Lord is directing my steps, ordering my path, and fulfilling His purpose for my life. I will walk confidently with Him, knowing that His plans are perfect, His timing is flawless, and His love for me is unfailing. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
