Guarding the Flame in Changing Seasons
Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional
Date: Friday, 17 July 2026
Topic: The Fire That Refused to Die (6)
Focus: Guarding the Flame in Changing Seasons
🔥Theme:
Keeping spiritual passion alive through disappointment, delay, and changing seasons.
📖 Key Verse:
“The fire must be kept burning on the altar continuously; it must not go out.” — Leviticus 6:13
Devotional:
Life is full of changing seasons. Some seasons bring joy, while others bring pressure. There are seasons of waiting, seasons of abundance, seasons of loss, seasons of new opportunities, and seasons of unexpected change. Every season has the potential to affect your spiritual life if you are not careful. Many people think only difficult seasons threaten their relationship with God. But success can be just as dangerous as suffering. Busyness can slowly replace prayer. Blessings can quietly take the place of dependence on God. Even ministry can become so demanding that we forget the One we are serving.
This is why spiritual fire must be guarded. It is not enough to experience God occasionally. We must remain intentional about our walk with Him regardless of what season we are in. Daniel continued to pray when he was a captive and when he became a ruler. David sought God both in the wilderness and on the throne. Paul’s devotion remained the same whether he was in prison or preaching to crowds.
📖 Scripture Reading:
- Leviticus 6:12–13 — The fire must be kept burning continually.
- Daniel 6:10 — Daniel prayed as he had done before.
- Hebrews 13:8 — Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
💧 Refreshing for the Day:
The condition of your heart should never be determined by the condition of your circumstances. Seasons will change, but God does not. His presence is still available. His Word is still true. His Spirit is still faithful. Ask yourself this question: What has this season done to my fire? Has success made you less dependent? Has disappointment made you less expectant? Has busyness made you less prayerful? Has familiarity made your worship routine? Whatever this season has taken, God is able to restore. Guard your time with Him. Protect your hunger for His Word. Refuse to allow changing circumstances to produce a changing devotion. The believer who finishes well is not the one who never faced changing seasons. It is the one who kept the fire burning through them all. Stay Refreshed!
✨ Note This:
🔥 A changing season is no excuse for a changing devotion. Guard the fire, and the fire will guard your heart.
🛡️ Responsibility:
Take an honest inventory of your spiritual life. Identify one area where this season has weakened your devotion to God, and make a practical decision today to strengthen it again.
🙏 Prayer:
Father, help me guard the fire You have placed within me. Whether I walk through seasons of joy or sorrow, abundance or need, success or waiting, keep my heart steadfast toward You. Do not let the pressures or pleasures of life draw me away from Your presence. Give me the wisdom to protect my altar and the grace to remain faithful until the end. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
🔥 Prophetic Declaration:
The fire of God within me will endure every season. My devotion will not be controlled by circumstances, and my passion for Christ will not grow cold. By the grace of God, I will remain watchful, faithful, and steadfast. I will guard the flame He has entrusted to me, and I will finish my race still burning for His glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
