Draw Me Near: The Cry of the Hungry Heart (3)

Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional

Date: Tuesday, 8 July 2025

Topic: Draw Me Near: The Cry of the Hungry Heart (3)

Focus: Sitting at His Feet

🔥 Message:

There’s a cry rising in the hearts of those who are done with surface-level Christianity—a cry for more. More than routine. More than religion. A cry for intimacy with the living God. This devotional is for the hungry. For those whose hearts whisper in the quiet: “Draw me near, Lord.” Over the next 7 days, may your desire for closeness grow deeper. May distractions fall away. And may you find that the nearness of God isn’t just possible—it’s the very purpose of your life.

📖 Key Verse:

Psalm 27:4 (NIV): “One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.”

Devotional:
When Jesus entered the home of Mary and Martha, two very different responses unfolded. Martha was busy serving—doing good things for Jesus. But Mary did the one thing that mattered most: she sat at His feet and listened. Jesus wasn’t angry at Martha’s service, but He gently corrected her focus. “Martha, Martha… you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen what is better” (Luke 10:41–42). In a noisy world full of demands, Jesus is still calling us to choose what is better—to slow down and sit at His feet.

📖 Scripture Reading:
Luke 10:38–42 – “Mary… sat at the Lord’s feet listening…”
Psalm 131:2 – “I have calmed and quieted my soul…”
Isaiah 30:15 – “In quietness and trust is your strength…”

💧 Refreshing for the Day:
True intimacy with God is not built in busyness, but in stillness. It is there, at His feet, that we are refreshed, transformed, and reminded of who He is and who we are. So, beloved, you don’t have to impress Jesus. He just wants you near. The most powerful place you can be today is at the feet of Jesus.

Note This:
Serving is good. Sitting is essential.

🛡️ Responsibility:
✅ Block out 10–15 minutes today. No noise. No phone. Just you, your Bible, and God. Read one Psalm and sit quietly at His feet. Let His presence refresh your soul.

🙏 Prayer:
Jesus, I want to be like Mary. Teach me to choose what is better. Calm my heart. Help me to sit at Your feet, listen to Your voice, and enjoy Your presence. You are my portion. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

🔥 Prophetic Declaration:
I choose the better part! I am a worshiper who sits at His feet. I am not driven by the noise of life—I am drawn by the voice of my Lord. His presence is my dwelling place! Alleluia!
