CARRYING YOUR CROSS DAILY (1)

Date: Tuesday, 15 October 2024
Focus: Denying Yourself
Beloved, today we begin another devotional series titled “Carrying Your Cross Daily.” In this series, we will explore what it truly means to carry your cross daily as a follower of Christ. Jesus calls us to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him, no matter the cost. This journey requires self-denial, sacrifice, enduring hardships, and trusting in God’s will. As we walk through this series, we’ll dive deeper into how carrying our cross leads to spiritual growth, greater intimacy with Christ, and ultimately, victory in Him. Each day will challenge us to live out our faith in a way that reflects Christ’s love, obedience, and surrender—knowing that following Him leads to eternal life and joy beyond measure.
To carry our cross daily begins with a conscious decision to deny ourselves. This means putting aside our own desires, selfish ambitions, and comfort to follow Christ wholeheartedly. Jesus teaches us that true discipleship involves sacrifice. By denying ourselves, we acknowledge that our lives are no longer our own; they belong to Christ. Denial is not about depriving ourselves but about surrendering to God’s greater plan, trusting Him over our desires.
Scripture Reading: “Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.'” — Matthew 16:24
Refreshing for the Day: So, as you go through your day, be intentional in denying your own desires and seeking God’s will. Ask the Lord to show you areas where self-denial will allow Him to work more fully in your life. By the end of the day, reflect on how surrendering your desires brought you closer to Christ. Stay Refreshed!
Note This: Self-denial is not about losing yourself, but about discovering the fullness of life in Christ.
Responsibility: In what areas of your life do you struggle with self-denial? How can you surrender those areas to God today?
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, help me to deny myself and put Your will above my own. Teach me to trust You and follow Your leading in every part of my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
Prophetic Word: I declare that I will deny myself and trust in God’s perfect plan for my life. His will is greater than my desires, and I choose to follow Him. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
