We Start Seeing People Differently
Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional
Date: Wednesday, 19 August 2026
Topic: What Happens When We Stay Close to Jesus (Day 4)
Focus: We Start Seeing People Differently
🔥Theme:
The quiet transformation that takes place when we continually abide in Christ.
📖 Key Verse:
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit.” — John 15:5
Devotional:
It is easy to see people only by what they have done. We remember the mistake. The attitude. The disappointment. The words that hurt us. Sometimes one bad experience becomes the lens through which we continue to see a person. But staying close to Jesus begins to change our vision. Jesus saw people differently. Where others saw a sinful woman, He saw someone who could be restored. Where others saw Zacchaeus as a corrupt tax collector, Jesus saw a man whose life could change. Where others saw Peter’s failure, Jesus still saw the disciple He would restore and use.
So, the closer we stay to Jesus, the more we begin to realize that people are often carrying stories we cannot see. This does not mean we excuse harmful behavior or abandon wisdom and boundaries. It means we refuse to reduce people to their worst moments. We begin to see beyond the surface. Beyond the failure. Beyond the weakness. Beyond what happened yesterday.
📖 Scripture Reading:
- 1 Samuel 16:7 — “People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
- Luke 19:5–10 — Jesus sees beyond Zacchaeus’ reputation and brings salvation to his house.
- Colossians 3:12 — “Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”
💧 Refreshing for the Day:
Grace teaches us to remember that God is still working on people just as He is still working on us. We become slower to judge, quicker to listen, and more willing to leave room for repentance, healing, and growth. Sometimes staying close to Jesus does not change the difficult person around us immediately. It changes the eyes with which we see them. And when we begin seeing people through the compassion of Christ, the way we treat them begins to change too. Stay Refreshed!
✨ Note This:
🌿 We may know what someone did, but only God fully knows their heart, their wounds, their struggles, and what He is still able to make of their life.
🛡️ Responsibility:
Think about someone you have been viewing mainly through disappointment, offense, or past failure. Ask Jesus to help you see that person with truth, wisdom, and compassion. You do not have to ignore what happened, but refuse to let it become the only thing you see.
🙏 Prayer:
Heavenly Father, teach me to see people through the eyes of Jesus. Forgive me for the times I have judged too quickly or defined someone only by their mistakes. Give me compassion without compromising truth, wisdom without becoming hard, and grace without losing discernment. Help me remember how patiently You continue to work in me, and teach me to extend that same grace to others. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
🌿 Prophetic Declaration:
The heart of Christ is shaping the way I see and treat people. I will not be controlled by prejudice, offense, bitterness, or quick judgment. God will give me wisdom to discern rightly and grace to love deeply. My words and actions will reflect the compassion of Jesus, and through my life, others will encounter His truth, mercy, and love. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
