UNTIL THE GLORY RETURNS (1)

Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional

Date: Wednesday, 30 April 2025

Topic: Until the Glory Returns (1)

Focus: When the Glory Departs

Message:

There is no tragedy greater than the absence of God’s glory—and no restoration more glorious than its return. In 1 Samuel 4, the ark was captured, the priests fell, and a child was named Ichabod—a prophetic cry that “the glory has departed.” It was a moment of deep national and spiritual loss. But Ichabod is not where the story ends. God is still searching for altars to rest upon… for lives that burn in holiness… for voices that cry out, “Bring the glory back!” This devotional series is a cry for restoration. A call to rebuild what has been broken. It’s not about performance. It’s not about noise. It’s about His presence—tangible, holy, consuming. This week, let’s refuse to settle for ministry without fire, altars without presence, and lives without glory.

📖 Key Verse:

1 Samuel 4:21 – “She named the boy Ichabod, saying, ‘The glory has departed from Israel.’”

Devotional:

The saddest declaration in Scripture may be this one: “Ichabod” – the glory has departed. Israel had lost the Ark of the Covenant. The priests had become corrupt. The people were religious but rebellious. And as a result, the tangible glory of God was no longer among them. There was still ritual. Still structure. Still sacrifice. But no glory. This is the tragedy of Ichabod: when the motions continue, but the presence is missing.

Today, many churches, ministries, and even personal lives have activity—but no glory. God does not dwell in hype or tradition. He dwells in purity, obedience, hunger, and honor. Yet Ichabod is not the final chapter. The same God who allowed the glory to depart is the One who longs to return to altars that have been repaired. Before glory returns, there must be a realization: Have we grown comfortable without it?

📖 Scripture Reading:

Ezekiel 10:18–19 – “Then the glory of the Lord departed…”

💧 Refreshing for the Day:

So, beloved, ask yourself honestly: Have I settled for ministry, religion, or life without glory? Let today be a day of holy dissatisfaction—a refusal to live without God’s manifest presence. Stay Refreshed!

Note This:

There is no tragedy greater than the absence of God’s glory—and no restoration more glorious than its return.

🛡️ Responsibilities:

  1. Reflect and repent. Ask the Holy Spirit: “Have I replaced Your presence with performance?”
  2. Journal the areas where you need the glory to return.

🙏 Prayer:

Lord, I don’t want to live with an empty ark or a dry altar. I need Your presence back. Forgive me for where I’ve drifted, where I’ve performed, and where I’ve compromised.
Let the cry of my life be: Until the glory returns, I won’t stop rebuilding. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

🔥 Prophetic Declaration:

The glory will return! I am a resting place for God’s presence. I will not settle for Ichabod. I will rebuild until the fire falls again! In Jesus’ name, Amen!
