THE UPPER ROOM MANDATE – UNTIL THE POWER FALLS (4)

Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional

Date: Saturday, 7 June 2025

Topic: The Upper Room Mandate – Until the Power Falls (4)

Focus: The Cost of Tarrying

Message:

Before revival hits the streets, it starts in the secret place. Before the noise of Pentecost came the silence of the Upper Room—where a remnant waited, prayed, and refused to leave until power fell. This devotional series is not for the casual—it’s for the consecrated. For those who say, “Lord, I will wait until You come again in power.”

📖 Key Verse:

Acts 1:13–14 (NIV) – “They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.”

Devotional:

Tarrying comes with a cost. The 120 didn’t just pray once and go back to life as usual. They waited. Days passed. Life moved on around them. Yet they stayed, refusing to leave until the Promise came. In our instant culture, waiting is uncomfortable. But revival doesn’t come on our schedule—it comes to those who are willing to linger. Tarrying tests your hunger. It exposes your idols. It refines your motives. Jesus told the disciples, “Wait until you are clothed with power from on high.” (Luke 24:49) He didn’t say how long. He just said wait. Tarrying means trusting God’s timing more than your own urgency.

📖 Scripture Reading:

  • Luke 24:49 – “But stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”
  • Isaiah 40:31 – “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength…”

💧 Refreshing for the Day:

So, beloved, if you want power, you must stay at the altar long enough for fire to fall. Most people quit too soon. Don’t be one of them. Ask God for grace to wait. Let Him deepen your hunger in the delay. Your waiting is not wasted—God’s doing more in you than you can see. Stay Refreshed!

Note This:

Tarrying isn’t about the clock—it’s about the cry.

🛡️ Responsibility:

  1. Set aside time today for focused waiting. No distractions. Just stillness and hunger.
  2. Journal what you sense God refining in your heart during this season of tarrying.

🙏 Prayer:

Lord, teach me to wait. Burn out impatience, pride, and fear. Give me grace to tarry until Your power falls. I don’t want a moment—I want the fullness of You. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

🔥 Prophetic Declaration:

I will wait until the fire falls. I will not rush the process. I am being prepared for a greater outpouring. I am a vessel of revival! Alleluia!

📖 Bible Texts:

Acts 1:4-5; 13-14, Isaiah 40:31, Luke 24:49
