So, I saw a text by T.S Elliot, and he said, “All our knowledge brings us nearer to our ignorance”. In other words, the more we seek to learn, the more aware we are about our inexperience. The quest for knowledge, riches and wisdom can never guarantee a person of true happiness. But one sure way to living a fulfilled happy life is ‘living by the Word of God’. Any wonder the Psalmist exclaimed in (Ps 1:1-3),
SCRIPTURE: Happy are those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or take the path that sinners tread, or sit in the seat of scoffers; but their delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law they meditate day and night. They are like trees planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in its season, and their leaves do not wither. In all that they do, they prosper. (Psalm 1:1-3 NRSV)
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: We are so engulfed in our quest and pursuit for ‘other things’ and forgets the very thing that matters most in life. But the truth of the matter is, there’s nothing in this life that gives joy, sincere happiness, and genuine satisfaction. Our joy, happiness and satisfaction come when we live by the Word of God (Matt 4:4). Solomon thought that his quest for knowledge and wisdom will quench his thirst for happiness and a lasting peace.
So, he pursued education, wisdom, and knowledge as no one before him had done. And the fuller his mastery of these fields, the emptier they seemed. And finally, he concluded wearily. “For in much wisdom is much grief, and he who increases knowledge increases sorrow” (Eccl 1:17-18). Stay Refreshed!
NOTE THIS: There’s nothing in this life that gives joy, sincere happiness, and genuine satisfaction. Our joy, happiness and satisfaction come when we live by the Word of God.
RESPONSIBILITY: So, ask God for the grace to always live by His Word.
PRAYER: O LORD, give me the grace to always live by Your Word, in the name of Jesus’ Amen! (Go ahead and continue to pray)
PROPHETIC WORD: As you learn to live by the Word of God, may you be fruitful and prosper in all you do, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!
