THE DECEPTION OF SIN
TIMES OF REFRESHING
ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL by Obiorah Prince Emeka
DATE: SUNDAY 17 JANUARY 2021
Sin is a deceiver, (Rom 7:11, Eph. 4:22). It distorts one’s spiritual vision, causes him to take false views of things, and to lose his clear view of truth. Sin deceives a sinner to believe in Satan’s lies and calls God a liar, (Gen 3:4). And continued flirtation with sin may result in ruination and destruction of life and destiny.
SCRIPTURE:
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord, (Roman 6:23) NLT
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY:
Sin is an enemy of destiny. It corrupts the mind and wrecks the soul.
The greatest deception of sin is when a person is living in sin and not knowing he is a sinner. Sin is wicked; it promises much, but accomplishes nothing.
Let us look at some of the ways sin deceives a person: First of all, sin deceives a person by promising what it can never deliver. What was it the serpent said to Eve? “Eat this fruit and you shall be like God.” (Gen 3:1-6). It is sin that deceives our young women to go naked on the social medias to lure a man for marriage. Sin says, “go ahead and sleep with that man before marriage”.
Sin tricks and deceives our young men to believe that belonging to secret cult and performing that bloody sacrifice will make them rich (quick wealth). Sin says “steal the money and nobody will find out”. Sin has deceived, killed many Christians and sent them to their early grave.
So beloved, what must we do to overcome sin in our lives? Know it that becoming a Christian does not stamp out all sin and temptation from a person’s life (Rom 7:22-24). So, when we feel confused and overwhelmed by sin’s appeal, we must not attempt to fight sin in our own strength.
Instead, we claim the freedom Christ gave us. His power can lift us to victory, (Rom 7:25). We also take hold of God’s provision for victory over sin, The Holy Spirit. He lives within us and gives us power to overcome sin. Even when we fail, He lovingly reaches out to help us up. Stay Lifted!
NOTE THIS:
Sin is an enemy of destiny. It corrupts the mind and wrecks the soul.
RESPONSIBILITY:
Surrender your life totally to God. And make a conscious effort that from today you shall live a sin-less life.
PRAYER:
O LORD, have mercy on me. Forgive all my sins and give me the grace to sin no more, in the name of Jesus’ Amen! (Go ahead and continue to pray)
PROPHETIC WORD:
May the resurrection power of Christ deliver you from all your sins, in the name of Jesus, Amen.
