The Altar and the Fire (1)

Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional

Date: Sunday, 2 November 2025

Topic: The Altar and the Fire (1)

Focus: Rebuilding the Altar of the Lord

🔥 Message:

The fire of revival is sustained only on the altar of surrender. Without the altar, there can be no lasting flame. The Altar represents the place of sacrifice, intimacy, and prayer—where flesh dies, and God’s glory lives. The Fire represents His presence, passion, and power—Heaven’s response to a yielded heart. 1 Kings 18:30–39 records that Elijah rebuilt the altar of the Lord that had been torn down, and when he prayed, fire fell. God’s fire always responds to a restored altar.

So, beloved, in this devotional series, we’ll explore what it means to rebuild and maintain your spiritual altar—to become a life fully yielded, consistently burning, and unashamedly set apart for God.

📖 Key Verse:

1 Kings 18:30 (NIV): “Then Elijah said to all the people, ‘Come here to me.’ They came to him, and he repaired the altar of the Lord, which had been torn down.”

Devotional:
Before the fire can fall, the altar must first be rebuilt. Revival fire doesn’t descend on broken structures or divided hearts—it comes upon altars that are whole, surrendered, and restored. 1 Kings 18:30 says: “Then Elijah said to all the people, ‘Come near to me.’ So all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord that had been torn down.”

Israel’s altars were in ruins because their hearts were divided between God and Baal. Elijah knew that before God could send fire, the people had to return to the altar. The altar represents the place of surrender—where self-will dies and divine will reigns.

📖 Scripture Reading:
1 Kings 18:30–32 – Elijah repairs the altar of the Lord.
Hosea 6:1 – “Come, let us return to the Lord.”
Romans 12:1 – Present your bodies as a living sacrifice.

💧 Refreshing for the Day:
Today, many altars are broken—not of stone, but of devotion. Prayer has become infrequent, the Word neglected, and worship replaced by distractions. Yet God is calling His people, just as Elijah did: “Come near to Me.” Rebuilding your altar means returning to your first love. It means setting apart time, space, and priority for God again. When the altar is restored, the fire will fall. God will send the fire again when you rebuild the altar again. Stay Refreshed!

Note This:
🔥 The altar must be repaired before the fire can return.

🛡️ Responsibility:
✅ Set aside time today to restore your altar. Remove distractions. Rededicate your heart to God in prayer, repentance, and worship.

🙏 Prayer:
Lord, I return to the altar. Forgive me for every place I’ve neglected You. Rebuild my devotion, renew my hunger, and prepare my heart for Your fire once again. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

🔥 Prophetic Declaration:
My altar is restored! I am rebuilt in devotion and renewed in passion. The fire of God is returning to my life in full flame. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
