SEEKING A FRESH ENCOUNTER WITH GOD (3)
TIMES OF REFRESHING DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org
DATE: FRIDAY, 30 AUGUST 2024
So, another sure way we can seek fresh encounter with God is through humble repentance. Repentance is an experience that can often feel heavy or uncomfortable, yet it is one of the most profound ways to experience the nearness of God. Repentance is more than simply feeling sorry for our sins; it is a deliberate turning away from wrongdoing and a turning towards God. It involves acknowledging our sins, confessing them, and making a conscious decision to change our behavior. In James 4:8, the Bible was so clear about that. It says,
SCRIPTURE: “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” — James 4:8 (ESV)
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: Drawing near to God requires us to cleanse our hands and purify our hearts. This calls us to a life of holiness, where our approach to God is marked by humility, repentance, and a sincere desire to align our lives with His will. Stay Refreshed!
NOTE THIS: Humble repentance is the pathway to experiencing God’s presence in our lives. It is through repentance that we cleanse our hands, purify our hearts, and draw near to our holy God.
RESPONSIBILITY: So, beloved, as we humble ourselves, confess our sins, and seek God’s forgiveness, He will meet us with His grace, wash us clean and renew our spirits.
PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in humble repentance, acknowledging our sins and our need for Your grace. Cleanse our hands and purify our hearts, that we may draw near to You. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
PROPHETIC WORD: As we turn away from sins and turn toward God, may He transform us into the image of His Son, that we may reflect His glory in all that we do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
BIBLE TEXTS: James 4:8, Jeremiah 29:13
